GTA 4 multiplayer cheating?

I don't think I'm a total noob, although tonight was the first time I played GTA4 multiplayer online via windows live.  Things were going great for a while in team deathmatch until a player joined who seemed to be doing some very sketchy things:

He was able to both drive and fire rockets, which I didn't think was possible.  Not only that, but he was firing multiple rockets simultaneously, which again I didn't think was possible.

I don't throw out the term "cheater" lightly, but he refused to explain how he was doing it, and was in fact a real jackass about it.  Several other players seemed convinced he was cheating too, so I thought I'd see if anyone else had experienced this?

His ID was "Lol borat."

Update seems to be confirmed (go to about 5:40): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRxrc2uakYc

Ive seen something similar. I joined a NOOSE game and this guy had a smg that fired rockets so he mustve fired like 20 at a time. HUGE EXPLOSION then he went on to make a helicopter appear out of nowhere. I reported him and left the game.

I was wondering if a player is reported do the LIVE team do anything regarding it?. Why can't rockstar simply ban mods for multiplayer?.

Every time you read a post from someone whining about having MODs on Live, you can remember issues like this.

Did you read about the MOD this guy is doing where he found parts of the "Lost And The Damned" DLC in on the PC DVD and is now trying to reproduce it as a MOD?

And you wonder why more publishers are starting to not like MODs. For every person who whines, WHINES about the lack of MOD support, my reply is simply if you can not play the game the way it was meant to be played, then stop playing it with me.

Nothing, NOTHING ruins a game like the jerk mentioned above. He is still a loser.

GFWL - Rockstar likes people who hack their games and kill their profit. No, not really.

I believe you could give him a bad rep in the players review thing In GWL, and if memory servers there is also a way to report abuses of the system. I haven't logged in in awhile so I couldn't tell ya.

Everytime I play GTA4 online, there is at LEAST 1 cheater...They laugh when you threaten to report, because LIVE is doing nothing about it...Not to mention, it takes 50% of the server to vote to kick, and people either dont know how or dont feel like taking a minute to do it.

The interface for multiplayer is so poorly designed...Give the person that started the server rights to kick anyone...it will make it much more controllable in terms of cheaters. From what I hear, Rockstar has to create a patch, and wait for microsoft to approve it, since its windows LIVE. Microsoft needs to step up and stand behind their partners games, or drop them.

Anyhow, multiplayer is so bugged right now with timing issues and lag, its not all that fun to play (most of the time, you have to find a real good server with no cheaters)

yeah ive seen a lot of players spawnin cars, running at 99 mph (on foot), flyin with cars, killin you with a single punch, using god mode, infinite ammo, rapid fire, no cops... and they say its fun... lol
and they are proud of their modified files, scripts or trainers...
There should be a Anti-cheater tool or somethin to kick them out of the game before they can even start the game, somethin that detects trainer or modified files... THAT would be nice :)

Anyway, im always recording those stupids cheating in Ranked mode so i can upload their tricks to RGSC
Everybody should do the same

LIVE Team

As mentioned above there are a few ways that you can provide feedback when encountering these types of players.  You can access these options by viewing their gamer card (usually from a game lobby, scoreboard, or your recent players list).  Once you are viewing their card you can either choose Submit Player Review or File Complaint.

By selecting a Player Review you can choose to avoid that player or set a preference to play with them in the future.  If you choose to avoid them when the LIVE service is finding matches for you to play in it will try to choose games where you will not be playing in the same round.  This also affects their star rating when viewing their gamer card.  If they have a low number of stars then they have had a lot of people choose to avoid them.  If they have 5 stars or so then many people prefer to play with that person.

By selecting File Complaint you can choose to send a report about this player violating one of the items found in the LIVE Code of Conduct.  You can report on various things such as offensive voice communication, offensive text in their gamertag / gamer card, and tampering (cheating).  I assure you these complaints ARE reviewed by LIVE; however status and results of the complaints are not disclosed to the person who filed them.  If you run into a person who is obviously cheating, using offensive / harassing language, or otherwise violating the LIVE Code of Conduct report them through this method.  We all desire LIVE to be a welcome and safe place for all to come and enjoy great games and experiences, by reporting those who do not conform to these standards you will help make LIVE a better place for everyone.

Honestly, almost every time I report someone, they have full stars. I believe that system fails.

Also, anyone can report anyone, regardless if it is true or not. How do you know who is or is not cheating? I actually got accused of having an autoaim the other night. I think the best way to solve this is to put some type of punkbuster in. Although punkbuster doesn't stop everyone, it sure would eliminate a lot of them. I would say 90% of the cheaters out there only cheat because they have trainers that work in multiplayer mode. Once thats out, i doubt it would be as easy as just a trainer.

Anyhow, its been a month since the last patch..hopefully one comes out soon. GTA4 is a FUN game, when it doesnt crash and theres no cheaters.

I do hope LIVE team would answer your question.

I have the same problem with Steam when i was playing Team fortress 2 few of them accused me of running aimbot. What can i do when this players comes under sniper scope?. Pretty silly of them to accuse me of things i have not done.

I think when I get my copy of GTA IV I will play only with people in my friends list instead of going online with the rule "there is always at least 1 cheater"...

Hello,

I just wanted to know if there's any auto-banning system in GTAIV.

Because I want to use this in MP, free Mode, with friends. *cough* and the Car Spawner 1.2

(Again : Free Mode, invite only server)

Will I get banned or something?
