same here, reinstalled the game and installed the previous version of live and it's sweet as. It's interesting the lag only happens in single player during gameplay, not during cutscenes or the benchmark. What a shame such a great game is tainted with GFWL. Reminds me of when Half life 2 was released with the steam client lol
hi, sorry to ask something not really related to this GFWL thread but GTA performanceMy spec : Q9450@ 3.4 4GB 4870x2 Vista64 sp1 Anyone here using the same GPU as mine? Please let me know what driver u r using and what else I should do to get better playing performance... In benchmark : FPS = 50 but if I use FRAPS, It's around 24-37 FPS especailly when driving at dawn or dusk in algonquin40 - 60FPS when drivng at ocean side, indoor and without too many cars. I set everything MAX except 24 view distance. Cat AI = standard I've tried Win XP sp3 (cat 8.12, 9.4)= worst : stuttering every 4-5 sec before update GFWLVista 64 SP1 (cat 8.12, 9.4, 9.5 beta) = worse : no stuttering but frame rate is unstable7 build 7077(cat 8.12, 9.3, 9.4, 9.5 beta) = bad : no stuttering but frame rate is unstable My GTA s even worse when the GFWL patch came out... please help me... (sorry for my bad english anyway xD)
You guys are raging hard. I don't think my game might be as severe as all of yours.
Also known as lukemat
Well.. i think your savegames won't be usable after that.. i don't really know but the danger is there :(
This savegame system still annoys me..
I still have GTA:SA savegames in my documents folder and i can use them whenever i want.. with gta iv this will be hard in the future..

Nah don't worry bout it too much Alec. They just need some time to cool off.
I mean, I can understand why they are really upset.

Their obviously just going to fix it very soon so relax and take a chill pill. Its terrible that the game is in this state after the latest GFWL update but nothing can be done about this until they have tested it to pinpoint the issue.
It could be the GFWL update is corrupt & or it did not show up on their Q&A so only affects the retail versions. I would be surprised if they do not have this fixed in a few days if not much sooner.

Man, I hope your right.
Its starting to sound like a war room in here....

lol your lucky, im getting about 10-25 if im lucky lol, but the game runs fine for me, i dont dare to install the update tho, it would rape my GTA 4 game lol
It's not like this is the first problem since release. This is the final straw for a lot of people. I'm one of the guys that had to build a new rig to get this game running and also had to wait a long time for patches etc to get the game playable.
I'm more of a fan of the GTA series and have been playing since the original. I enjoy single player more than anything else. I'm not fan of Games for Windows and to me and I'm sure to alot of other's its just an added annoyance. With the previous GTA titles I was really into the custom content/modding side of GTA and the community that comes with it.
While we wait patiently and do other non gta things, lets hope this is the last in a long line of troubles with this otherwise good game :P
I hope the team involved in the live side of things at microsoft learns their lesson and gets a few test machines together to test future updates on the titles, and maybe use gamers not devs as the testers as they both have different habits.
Just 5 computers would do, 5 mainstream hardware combination's and maybe a high end dell or HP pc in there for kicks. Test them on those then release would save alot of bandwidth on their forum servers lol
PS: sorry to the kid I raged out at in the beginning of the thread, just caught me at the wrong time :P

May have already tried this but have you tuned your ram latency's? Frame rate fluctuations can't be helped in this game I guess due to the way it's designed. Sounds to me like something is bottle necking. Whats your 3Dmark score? I'm guessing this is a new build?

hey thank you super87nz, I fix my ram as stock. I watched some vdo in utube - it s much smoother than me (Q9550@3.6 + 4870x2 + cat9.2)I've just tried 9.2. For me, its worse than 9.4 :( Any suggestion pal??

yup, 3 days later nothing...i dont understand this method of operating...guess it would need 30 min to roll back that fkin update...then you have enough time for testing fixing your new version...nothing more to say
If yall will give it time it will be fixed. They will not just sit let this go on for ever!
I'll post here again to remind people that you ARE still bound by the terms of use, you're still expected to behave in an adult manner while posting on the forums. We are working on it, a fix is on the way. We do in fact do testing, which does in fact take time. It wouldn't serve anyone well if we were to find the problem, "fix it" and then immediately push out that fix without ensuring that the fix doesn't cause any other problems. The people insisting we should test but also insisting we should fix the problem the second it occurs seem to be a bit disconnected from reality.
The development team has been working on this issue since it was first discovered, most of them pulling exceedingly long shifts to identify and work towards a resolution on this issue. I think people may be a bit misguided if they think that when a bug like this happens it's just business as usual or that we're all hanging out bowling in the hall and drinking margaritas or something. Issues like this are a big deal, and the work to get them fixed in a timely manner involves many people working very hard.
