InGlocksWeTrust:

Thank for the response "InGlocksWeTrust", but that isn't the correct file.

As I mentioned before, the hotfix required is for a Brazilian Portuguese OS. The one quoted above works exclusively on OS that are based on Portuguese from Portugal. Think of it as the difference between British English and American English.

As an example, their hotfix ends in "PTG". Every Brazilian hotfix ends in "PTB". And I did try installing the PTG hotfix, but it did not work.

Still, I've had no luck fixing this issue and would appreciate any help.

It is unfortunate that up to this point, no one has mentioned to you that Brazil is a non-supported country for Games for Windows Live. For example, if you were to go to a store and purchase any GFWL game, there would be no live key included with the game.

Check the technical support thread for non supported countries and see if there is any help from other users there that may have had the same problem as you and see if there is a solution.  But as of now, unfortunately, there is no patch for Brazil.

How disapointing. But thanks for informing.

What sounds strange to me, though, is that in-game my LIVE account works perfectly. Granted it is "american" because I created it back then, but still, it works on a Brazilian Windows XP. The problem arises when I try to run the LIVE client out of the game in order to access the marketplace to buy add-ons.

Is there a way to work around this issue since I own an american LIVE account and am currently playing an american version of Fallout 3 (which includes the LIVE key)? Perhaps by buying the add-on on another computer (with an English OS) and then copying the files to this computer?

Lastly, I found a link for the brazilian hotfix (WindowsXP-KB938759-x86-PTB.exe), but since it is not listed on the thread I would like to verify if it will work.

I have tried the hotfix and ran cool, the upgrade was done! But now comes the error of Visual C + + Runtime Library. Runtime Error! I've done the Upgrade Visual C + + for the 2008 version but the error continues.  I'm trying to play Gears of War, I've downloaded the last update (GearsPC_TU3_Microsoft). Can anyone help me?

Make sure you are running as an administrator. It is troublsome that you can not uninstall or re install.

Try the MSI Clean up utility

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

To remove GFWL

Sounds to me like your problems are rooted deeper than GFWL alone

I am not sure if LIVE support can help with Install errors. I would contact Windows Support. If you can not install the MSI clean up utility then I would get that working first. The rest of issues should resolve themsleves after that.
