When they release that new version of gfwl there better be a way to unlink the cd key so you can sell your games or let a friend borrow it like you can do with console games and alot of other pc games. I bought the cd not rented it I should be able to let my friend use my cd key or give him the game with cd key.

Dont worry pal that will not happen, because it will be simply a horrible idea, i if i buy a game i have right to borrow it or sell it without selling my gamertag with it, that is only a speculation from various user from the forum and the live team said they will not make GFWL client 3.0 drm'ish they just will take charge of the multiplayer part (that mostly sucks because gwl uses p2p connections for multiplaye, please use servers!!!Big Smile)

that will be known after the launch of the 3.0 client, we can only speculate for now, but hopefully the serial will be atached to the game not to the gamertag(well if developers of live have half of a brain)

That would be nice, but no such luck.

The EULA in most games specifically states that lending & resale is prohibited, so you don't have the right to lend or resell a game most of the time.

From what I have read the licence keys will be linked to your gamertag, no mention of being able to unlink them has ever been made & I'd be surprised if they allowed it tbh.

its no different to buying a game that requires steam activation (dawn of war 2) etc or buying a game via any of the digital distribution systems.

Version 3, coming out this summer, adds on to that with a couple of features for end users and publishers. Games for Windows — LIVE is going to focus on three key areas. One of those is server-side authentication. What that means is the LIVE service will track the license of the title to the gamer’s account. They will be able to run that game from any machine they want to. No longer will they be tied to a single machine.

This is most likely going to take place. Whether it does is up to the Live team & the perception of how it will work. It really doesn't matter at this point if it will attract customers. If you read that interrview, if the team doesn't find out ways to protect the IP from piracy we will be continue to be disapointed with PC game selection.

So your saying that a this moment you cant "unlink" your cd key?

Wait, thats not right is it? you can lend any live game you want to your friends and hes able to play it on his own GFWL account, you prolly just cant play it both at the same time ofcourse.

This is how it is now im sure, i mean Centurion made about 4 new GFWL accounts now becos he wanted a new name :D and he was able to play all his live games on his new account, no problems.

This is what you mean right?
