does not fucking work

Steam/XP

get fatal error at start
also, games for windows live application wants me to download a Hotfix ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960554 ) but the download link is broken.

what

the

***

is

this

***.

spent maybe half a day downloading on steam's slow servers, 30 mins trying to remember my xbox live account that i used 2 years ago, link it to this fucking rockstar social club they oblige you to join, windows live doesnt work fully cause i cant update it with the hotfix, and all i get out of this is rockstars *** logo and i get thrown back to desktop.

I already played and finished this game on ps3, and because i consider myself a pc gamer at heart and a GTA fan, i bought it again on PC to experience it at its fullest and enjoy mods later on. and this is how i get repayed. I'm surprised Securom isnt even the start of my problems here.

Ok I figured it out.   The MMA10 is a server error.  I heard that Rockstar is working on this error ASAP....well hopefully.

Can't wait for Final Fantasy XIII!

the game even crashes here when not logged into Rockstar Games Social Club, just right after the intro with all the Rockstar Logos and the actual GRAND THEFT AUTO IV logo.

Congrats.. the only game i bought this year and i already regret it.

when you click on icon to play game, upper right corner has your login info, click logout, then hit play button, pop up message says you can't play online without logging in to social club, hit ok, then hit play button again, game will play just fine now!  you'll just have to wait to play multiplayer until they get their server fixed.

Got this message on startup too.

Going to try without signing in, but it appears that everything from saving the game to multiplayer will be offline due to this.  A great start to this game.

This is the 2nd game I ever bother to preorder, and while the first was bad enough, this takes the cake by far.  At least the other one loaded...I don't know how they could overlook a game not loading error...but it is Microsoft we're dealing with.  Coupled with all the hoops that you must go through to play?  I had to Google "Games for Windows - LIVE" just to find where to get a tag.

This is nearly as bad as Vista and hopefully it gets resolved before the weekend...

I have the same dang thing... Starts up, shows a screen, then says that. Vista 64 bit on steam, nvidia gpu, all latest drivers. DXwebsetup doesn't want to work for some reason today, so I can't update my dx10, I'm guessing it's up to date though??? Everything else I double checked.

SOLUTION HERE:

I HAVE READ FROM SOMEONE BACK OFF THE PHONE WITH ROCKSTAR THAT THE PROBLEM JUST STARTED OCCURING, MESSAGES ARE POPPING UP EVERYWHERE.

OBVIOUSLY THIS IS INTERNET RELATED, SO A SOLUTION HAS BEEN FOUND: DISCONNECT FROM ROCKSTAR SOCIAL CLUB. THIS WILL ENABLE SINGLE PLAYER UNTIL A FIX IS RELEASED FOR THE SOCIAL CLUB LOGIN.
