AND even if it had been fixed (which it hasn't) 4 days would not have been a "SPEEDY FIX!!!" in my or most people's book.

It's fixed for me, Glock and a lot of other people, so.... don't know what to tell you.

I miss the old days where Guild Wars and Battlefield 2 dominated online gaming. Since I have slowly receded into offline FPSs and RPGs. My gaming history.

Ok, looks like I got it to work in some compacity. I had to change my time settings from the time.nist.gov to time.windows.com or something like that. Seems that the time.nist.gov service is not functioning properly, so you've been unable to sync to internet time. The microsoft one works just fine. I was able to reach the download page for Point Lookout by clicking the button on the front page, not the marketplace. Downloading now.

Well, it KINDA works. I was able to download Point Lookout only because it was on the front page. I still get the Error message when I click on the Marketplace tab. There is still a problem.

Ok so i've tried the following clear the cache folder. my history (nuked everything don't use IE so no biggie) then forced my machine to resync the time. This got me to the page with the option to buy, all good so far so th buy option pops up and then i get the following Sad

can't link the image in the age so here is the url here

the sript error indicates a issue at line 239 on the 21 first character with the error 800a03e8, so clicking yes to continue running the code i recive the dollowing execption message;

again click here

There exception indicates it can not open th following URL

http://marketplace.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/Marketplace/Details/0ecf00016-0000-4000-8000-0000425307d6

Finally after clicking the OK i gt th follwoing standard IE error pages indicating a ssue with finding the DNS here

I'm mow reciving the standard error message, i'm going to turn off my firewall and repeat the clearring process and see what happens this time, as it's possible the script failed as windows firewall blocked it running something.

It's like as if Microsoft wants to encourage people to pirate games. I can't wait to see this company crash and burn in the future years. The way they treat their customers with long periods of delay fixing errors like this is just disgracful.

Haha if Microsoft dies there would be no such thing as a personal business machine, only the cheap personal computers that weigh 8 oz and don't have a cd drive will exist. Yea, I'm an Apple hater :D

If your desperate to get the DLC there was somebody who called Xbox (and was redirected to GFW) was instructed how to fix it and apparently it worked, so there is a possibility, but it may depend on the person. Otherwise try all the firewall, and cache deletion stuff as it seems to work to an extent.

You, sir, fail.

Microsoft's only real strength is the obscurity of alternatives.

Personal business machine..... IMHO that is not how I would describe a machine with a windows OS installed on it.

You need to take a look at Linux, possibly a distro like RedHat or Fedora, Ubuntu even. Most are free and open source, and extremely well supported by the community. Something like this would never happen to a linux distro, and if it did, wouldnt happen for more than a day before being patched.

When Microsoft *does* crash and burn, we are going to need another OS, so start brushing up on your linux skills.

Oh, and the last few threads I've read always have you valiantly defending everything Microsoft.... stop it, its annoying. A fail is a fail, regardless of whether the GFW dev team is fixing it or not. There are ripped off customers here, some with less money and less product than they should have. Bear that in mind when telling us to 'get over it'.

And you don't think I think you and the other people that bash things are annoying? How about you stopping first because there are so many people that hate and so little that appreciate.

Right so the following has worked for me,

  1. Lower the security in Internet options to medium (how many no techie people would do this givn it warns against it)
  2. Turned off my firewall, again how many no techie and techie people for that matter really want to do this
  3. Cleared the GFWL cache, vista hides the AppData folder by default and doesn't lsit it when you type so you ned to know it's there.
  4. Cleared brwser history (easiest one of the lot so far)
  5. Resysnced the time on my machine with the Microsoft clock
  6. Started GFWL logged in
  7. Followed the Point lookout lnk from the Splash screen the cliked buy asfter this everything works as normal.

So my guess is that it's more stabl than it was earlier this week but something else is going on, either a syn issue with time s i've had the logout log off message a fair few times or indows firewall is stopping one of the javascript functions doing something. Just wish i could run the who system through IE 8 for the debuging tools.

I'm sure you do think I'm annoying.

Calm down, I'm not trying to start a flame war. I was just trying to make my point.

But when something you pay for does not work, and all you can see on threads that might help you is "works for me" you get a bit frustrated. "works for me" != "fixed". Then someone says "this is a bit *** isnt it" and they get lept on by fanbois defending microsoft to the bitter end.

Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to insult you, I'm just tired of this bull. I know how hard it is to maintain a web-based service and fix bugs, but for a company with Microsoft's manpower and resources to just fail and leave it failed for days, its not acceptible for me. I'm afraid to say I expect better.

The only reason it isn't better is that we just roll over and accept how it is, there is no pressure for Microsoft to raise the bar.

I just want my damn dlc :(

I had an identical problem.  Tried all the recommended solutions.  Nothing worked.  Finally solved it by going to the support page at http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-US/index.aspx and downloading a system update depending on whether you have a 32 or 64-bit system.  Try that.

My question to you would be have you even read what people have done that have encountered this problem. The marketplace is giving errors once in a while. It is not like it was last 5 days. This thread is not about defending Microsoft. It is about spreding the word to the Live team on what is going on & what the users have tried to get the marketplace to work.

You are really hung up on this company. Maybe you should head over to Linux or Macintosh. Oh wait, Direct X doesn't work for those platforms, so you will be missing out on thousands of games.Plus you are very arrogant to think that the whole Microsoft would be working on a minuscule division like games for windows. Get real, if you are going to bash someone, get your facts straight.

another good place to check the status of issues with xbox live/gfwl is the xbox live operations blog (linky). E & his team keep this updated with any issues, & how the solutions are coming along.

What bothers me is that people are now accustomed to having to jump through hoops, someone mentioned that PC gaming has always been like this. I disagree, and I'm sure disagreed with. GFWL does not add value to customers, it makes simple operations more complicated. Steam got it right (well, better).

This is still not working for me so I just wont buy the add on. Have fun all. And well done to the GFWL team for an excellent content delivery system and contingency planning...

You must not of been a steam user for very long then. GL have fun when something breaks on steam & you will be on their forums complaining when you can't work around the software to fix simple things.
