Right, this is the point I was trying to make; Why is it acceptable to have to 'work around software to fix simple things'?
It's not acceptable to me. I have no complaint about GFWL other than it doesn't work particularly well and adds little value to me as a consumer. Hence I won't use it on this occasion just as I wouldn't use steam, impulse, GoG or any other content delivery software that failed to work or requires me, as the paying consumer remember, to work around poorly functioning software.
I've not mentioned the EA downloader, that was probably the poorest implementation of them all!
Enjoy working around GFWL to fix simple things my friend. I appreciate what you're trying to do with this thread and I feel a little guilty for taking this off-topic.
InGlocksWeTrust: clenchedsphere: zlexis: And you don't think I think you and the other people that bash things are annoying? How about you stopping first because there are so many people that hate and so little that appreciate. I'm sure you do think I'm annoying. Calm down, I'm not trying to start a flame war. I was just trying to make my point. But when something you pay for does not work, and all you can see on threads that might help you is "works for me" you get a bit frustrated. "works for me" != "fixed". Then someone says "this is a bit *** isnt it" and they get lept on by fanbois defending microsoft to the bitter end. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to insult you, I'm just tired of this bull. I know how hard it is to maintain a web-based service and fix bugs, but for a company with Microsoft's manpower and resources to just fail and leave it failed for days, its not acceptible for me. I'm afraid to say I expect better. The only reason it isn't better is that we just roll over and accept how it is, there is no pressure for Microsoft to raise the bar. I just want my damn dlc :( My question to you would be have you even read what people have done that have encountered this problem. The marketplace is giving errors once in a while. It is not like it was last 5 days. This thread is not about defending Microsoft. It is about spreding the word to the Live team on what is going on & what the users have tried to get the marketplace to work. You are really hung up on this company. Maybe you should head over to Linux or Macintosh. Oh wait, Direct X doesn't work for those platforms, so you will be missing out on thousands of games.Plus you are very arrogant to think that the whole Microsoft would be working on a minuscule division like games for windows. Get real, if you are going to bash someone, get your facts straight.

Yes I have read 4 threads on this issue, and used every trick people suggested to try to get this to work. I've been trying for days on end with no dice.
It finally worked for me sometime late last night, but it was very intermittent, and as I had already tried all the tricks in the book and tested it, I can reasonably say that it was not a direct result of anything I had done on my system.
Oh, and about getting my facts straight.....
I do use linux, and its better, although admittedly I'm using my XP box at the moment to play FA3. I think this answers your point (or lack of one) about directx and non windows platforms:

My Ubuntu (laptop) install currently has Halo, Eve online, Homeworld 2 installed. Yes, I have a legit copy of windows on it too.
I did not say that all of microsoft would be working on one bug fix - perhaps you should RTFM?
I suggested that Microsoft has alot of manpower and resources to throw at a problem, and they obviously are not / were not doing it, or for some reason it was not a priority. Something being fucked for 5 days and intermittently working will piss people off, and has pissed me off. I'm not "hung up" on M$, I'd just prefer that something I pay for to work.
When you consider something like Linux (you brought it up not me) is completely free, and bugfixes are made available literally within hours of a potential problem being spotted, you come to expect a high standard of programming. Then, when you pay for something from MS and it does not work, you are left thinking "why did I bother?" and "wheres my money?", aswell as being fairly angry.
I accept this thread is not about bashing or defending MS, but I'm only replying to you, who apparently couldn't resist arguing with me. My first post wasn't all that nasty really, and my second was meant to explain why I said what I did in the first. I don't particularly care to continue this petty mud throwing however, so this will be my last post on this thread. So you can have a free shot if you honestly care whether you win a forum flamewar or not.
I hope that clarifies a few things.
These issues should now be resolved, please let me know if you're still experiencing them.

Tawok:Their client to add microsoft points is working 100%. The client to spend them, is not.
In the long run....................
Same thing. No one is going to spend points if they can't use them. I wouldn't keep buying points if I couldn't spend them.
Keep trying as the issue could be with the market place and/or the client. Like Eastman says, I am sure they will fix it soon.

and is there any dfferent between Xbox and gfwl point card ?
Point cards for Xbox, Zune and GFWL are the same. Point cards are point cards. Just be careful of the content you purchase. XBox content is for Xbox only.
