Due to one persons post of not fully understanding how to use the forums media upload to post his picture I decided I would go about making this post. This way when someone does not understand a button or how to make embedded links you can point them here. Now it is time for us to begin.

Basics

Reply Button

1. Press it on someones post.
2. The text field will appear to reply. 

 Quick Reply 

1. Press the Quick Reply button located at the bottom right of a post.
2. A new window will appear with a text field to reply. 

// Note: This will not allow you to see previous posts while typing. Only use quick reply when you know what you are going to be saying. Since you can not use the quote button in this option.

 Bold

1. Highlight the text you wish to make bold.
2. Press the Bold button or press CTRL + B.

Italic

1. Highlight the text you wish to make italic.
2. Press the Italic button or press CTRL + I.

Underline

1. Highlight the text you wish to underline.
2. Press the Underline button or press CTRL + U.

Strikethrough

1. Highlight the text you wish to strikethrough.
2. Press the Stikethrough button.

// At all cost please do not use this much. It makes your text look horrible and hard to read

Smilies

1. Press the Smilie button. A pop-up window will appear.
2. Press the smilie you wish to use

// We all know them and some love them more than others. Please be kind to not post all smiles or a lot of them. It makes your post more worthy to read if you have less to most people. 

Cut

1. Highlight the text you with to cut.
2. Press the Cut button or press CTRL + X.
3. This will remove the text from the screen and add it to the clipboard for pasting.

Copy

1. Highlight the text you with to copy.
2. Press the Copy button or press CTRL + C.
3. This will put the text from the screen and add it to the clipboard for pasting.

Paste

1. Place your course in the text area.
2. Press the Paste button or press CTRL + V
3. This will add the text from the clipboard to the screen. 

Paste from Word

1. Press the Paste from Word button. A pop-up window will appear.
2. Copy the text you wish to post from Microsoft Word by highlighting it and pressing CTRL + C.
3. Paste the text in the pop-up window using CTRL + V.
4. Press the Insert button.

// Using this option allows you to paste from Microsoft Word and make it look the same as it does in the document. The reason you need this is that a lot of HTML code is put into a word formatted document. A lot of this HTML code can not be rendered in most programs in the correct manner.

 Text Format

1. Highlight the text you wish to make larger.
2. Press the drop down box.
3. Select the size from the list.

// Please use this sparingly, for it can be a bit annoying to read text in huge letters. It is almost as bad as if you used your Caps Lock while typing, for it could be considered yelling.

 Quote Button

1. Press the Reply button on the poster you wish to quote.
2. A text field for typing your posts will appear with a gray box with the posters message above.
3. Click the Quote button below their message.
4. The message will be put in quote tags and added to your text field.

 More Menu

This button contains many things useful towards your posts or someone elses post.

1. Send to Friend - This is pretty straight forward. Find an interesting post send it to them.
2. Report Abuse - If you find something offensive in a post report it.
3. Edit - Use to edit your own posts. Be sure to use this so you do not double post.
4. Add this post as a favorite / Remove this post from favorites - If you like a post or do not like a post anymore it will add or remove from your profile
5. Add this forum as a favorite / Remove this forum from favorites - Same as adding a post it will remove or add to your profile.

Search

1. Enter keywords that related to your issue.
2. Press the magnifying glass or press the enter key on your keyboard.
3. The search will return with its results.
4. Find the one that best matches your problem and click on it.

 // It is always best to search before you ask a question. It may have already been answered.

 More Search Options

1. Follow the above steps for using search.
2. Go to the bottom of the search page results.
3. Click on More Search Options.
4. Use one or all of the search text fields and drop down menus. 

// This is basically an advanced search option and it will narrow down your search to find a more exact topic you are looking for in your search query.

Basic Structure

Indent

Adds a space infront of your paragraph.

Outdent

Removes a Indent from your paragraph.

Unordered List

A unordered list is basically a bullet list of text.

Ordered List

A ordered list is basically a numbered list of text.

Basic Reply Options

1. Compose - Reply to peoples posts, tag your topics, and put in edit notes.
2. Options - Post icons on your posts and lock your posts to stop people quoting you.
3. Poll - Simple poll with options to allow people to vote.
4. Preview - This allows you to view your post before you post it. It allows you to get a general idea of what the post looks like before you post it.

Compose Tab

Tags - Tags can be helpful little related search queries in which help in finding a related topic for the search engine. You can either manual input them or select some from a list. (If you manual do this each tag is seperated by a space and semicolon ";", for example, "Fallout; PC;").

1. Press the Select Tags button. A pop-up will appear.
2. Scroll through the list and check related tabs.
3. Once done scroll to the bottom right. Press the Ok button

Quick Edit Tags - A nice quick edit on your tags without using the more button to edit your post.

1. Press "[Edit Tags]" button located at the bottom of your post.
2. A text field will appear, put in your options or select them.
3. Press the save button.

Poll Tab

1. Press the Poll Tab
2. Check the "Include a Poll in this Post" option
3. Enter the question you want people to vote on.
4. Put a Description if needed.
5. Type a poll option into Add Answer and press the Add button. (repeat for more poll options)
6. Enter an "Expires After" if needed. (By default it does not expire. Only input a number if you wish the poll to be for a set amount of days).

Links and Embedding

Insert/Edit Link

1. Highlight the text or image you wish to link.
2. Press the Insert/Edit Link button. A pop-up will appear.
3. Add a Link URL, Target, or Title.
4. Press the Insert button.

This can be used in one of many ways to make hypertext link or even make an image contain a link. 

Link URL

Use this to insert the web address into

Target 

 A drop down menu of ways to target a link. This makes a link either open in the same browser window or in a new browser window.

// Types of links

Inbound Links - These are links which are put on this site which point to another site. It is always best to target these to a new browser, so people can not lose track of where they were. Keeps them posting on the site longer.

On-Site Links - Links that point to pages on this site. These are usally always fine to target in the same window as they keep the user still on the same site.

Title

The title attribute is used to show information about the link.

 Target Post Button

1. Click the the icon to the left of the users name.
2. The page will target a selected post.
3. A URL will be made for that targeted post in the Address bar.

Insert Media

1.  Click the Insert Media button. A pop-up window will appear.
2. Select one of the following Tabs.

// You will select one of these based off where the file is located. If it is on your computer you will use From Computer Tab or if it is on a upload site or a site you want to show a picture or video from you will use the From URL Tab. Also, please keeps the video and pictures clean as possible, there are some children on these forums.

From Computer Tab

1. Select the From Computer Tab. It should be selected by default.
2. Press the Browse button. A pop-up window will appear.
3. Navigate to the folder which contains the file.
4. Select the file and press the Open button.
5. The location of the file will show up in the Upload Media text box.
6. Change the size of the image if needed.
7. Press the Insert button.

From URL Tab

Pictures

1. Select the From URL Tab
2. Find an image on the internet you wish to copy.
3. Right click it and press Properties. A new window will appear.
4. Highlight the Address (URL) given.
5. Press CTRL + C to copy the URL to the clipboard.
6. Put your cursor in the Link to Media text field and press CTRL + V to paste the URL.
7. Adjust the size if needed.
8. Press the Insert button. 

Video

1. Select the From URL Tab
2. Find the video you wish to show from YouTube.
3. Highlight the URL in the Address bar.
4. Press CTRL + C to copy the URL to the clipboard.
5. Put your cursor in the Link to Media text field and press CTRL + V to paste the URL.
6. Adjust the size if needed.
7. Press the Insert button.

Profile Options

1. Posts - Search the posts someone made. A big list of everything they have done in the time of their stay on this forum. 
2. Start a Conversation - Private message style system.
3. Send an Email - This allows you to do just that and send an e-mail to some one. Be sure to keep it friendly, no dislike messages towards anyone.

Posts

1. Click the number of posts.
2. Search through until you find the selected post with or without a keyword. 

Start a Conversation

1. Press Start a Conversation.
2. A pop-up text field will appear with the users forum name.
3. Type out your message.
4. Press the Start Conversation button.

Send an Email

1. Press Send an Email.
2. A pop-up text field will appear with your forum name, email address, and the other users forum name.
3. Type out your e-mail.
4. Press the Send Email button.

Edit Your Profile

1. Find your name by the sign out button.
2. Press the Edit button to the right of your name.

 Profile Options

You can edit the following in this tab.

1. Avatar - The picture that is shown on your posts.
2. Bio - Lets you write a little information about yourself to show it in your profile.
3. Common Profile Options - Personal information about yourself to display to everyone such as location, age, etc.
4. RSS Feeds - RSS Feeds in your profile.

Avatars

1. Press the Change avatar button.
2. Select one of the following tabs.

Upload an Avatar Tab

1. Select the Upload an Avatar Tab.
2. Press the Browse button. A pop-up window will appear.
3. Navigate to the folder which contains the avatar.
4. Select the image file and press the Open button.
5. The location of the file will show up in the Upload an Avatar text field.
6. Press Use Uploaded Image.

Select an Avatar Tab

1. Select the Select an Avatar Tab.
2. Find the avatar from the list you wish to use and select the option.
3. Press Use Selected Image.

Link to an Avatar Tab

1. Select the Link to an Avatar Tab
2. Find an image on the internet you wish to use.
3. Right click it and press Properties. A new window will appear.
4. Highlight the Address (URL) given.
5. Press CTRL + C to copy the URL to the clipboard.
6. Put your cursor in the Link to and Avatar text field and press CTRL + V to paste the URL.
7. Press the Use Link Image button.

 Site Options

You can edit the following in this tab.

1. Site Options - Used for how the site layout will look for you. This can be simple stuff such as setting the posts per page.
2. Signature - Personal signature displayed on every post. You can insert text or images in here.
3. Timezone - Set this up to your timezone so the forums will display the correct time and date a post was posted on.
4. Date Format - How the date will be displayed.
5. Email Configuration - How you wish to recieve e-mails, HTML, no HTML, recieve e-mails, etc
6. Conversation Configuration - Settings for the conversation options in your profile.

Nice post. Could you please edit in using the search feature. The redundancy in this forum is out of hand. Also a nice post about reading the FAQ's would be great too.

If anyone thinks of anything or has anything I should add please post it and I will get around to adding it.

try it again, sometimes that happens, I edit mine all the time (my stickied thread, did it yesterday in fact).

I have actully tried multiple times, but no dice. Sadly I can not even edit any of my posts in this thread, regardless of it being the orignal post or not. =/

Alright, I've removed the stickiness of the thread for now, if you want to let me know when you feel like you're "done" I can stick it again.  We are, btw, looking into the issues with unhandled exceptions.

Thank you, it is all good now. I think I have almost covered everything so resticky should be soon enough, I hope.
