Hi thanks for the reply I've been email the support team wor the last few days (phone contact dosn't seem to work at eather end :( ) under support id: *removed by gfwlmod* but the more people that have a look the better as in the long run someone will find and know a fix to the prob. For anyone that was to see if they can help I have posted all the doc's i sent to support (I have removed only personal info where its needed) on RapidShare HERE.

I used wireshark Version 1.2.2 (SVN Rev 29910) for the traceing and am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_rtm.090713-1255)

If theres any more infor needed and I can proved then plz just ask.

Try uninstalling all games and the client on Windows 7 and do a full uninstall on the games.

install Halo 2 and it will also install the earlier version of the client.

Let Halo 2 update the client to version 3 and go from there.

Seems like this is the solution that most users find that works.

Let us know.

Hi,

Has anyone got any more ideas to get GfWL (and my GfWL dependent games) working for me?

DoW2, FO3, and Red Faction Guerilla don't work....

Thanks

Umm, what do you mean by this?  Could you provide a little more specificity?  Or a screen shot of how you are running live from the Halo2 DVD?

When you install halo 2 the game will install fine but the live service dosn't seem to install theres no message or error popping up? So in order to install live you have to go to redists folder on the dvd and launch the file named XLiveRedist1.0.6027.msi in order to install live. There is a detaled discusion on this problem HERE as it seems to affect quite a few people.

But it is worth notting that the windows 7 ver's that some of these people are using is older than mine (goin by the dates of the postes) I have RTM 7600, and the steps in the post provided do not work with the current version.

Just to add I have been in contact with the GFWL support team for the last couple of days and had a 1 hour phone call FROM them yestarday and after a load of troubleshooting they have now raised this matter with the MS live dev team as IT is a propblem with the current version of live and will need ether patching or a new release.

You need to uninstall all your games including the client and all the folders for the games.  If you want to back up your saves, you have to do a forum search for each game to  do this. Once done then proceed with the uninstalls.  There is no easy fix for this as of yet. Just remember to have all your keys handy as well.

Reinstall Halo 2 WITHOUT the client and let Halo 2 update the client to the current version.  After you verify everything is working, then reinstall all your games.

Thanks for the reply but I think you are confusing my issues with someone else in this thread!

My GfWL client crashes as soon as I launch it. All my games are bought/installed through Steam. I have not bought/installed ANY games via GfWL.

It is Red Faction: Guerilla, DoW2 and Fallout 3 that don't work (I don't own Halo2)

I just installed Windows7 and I'm having a problem that I described in another thread.
http://forums.gamesforwindows.com/p/7909/74959.aspx

Basically, any download I try to do with Games for Windows Live results in the error message "A problem has occurred with this request."

I recently formated my computer and did a fresh install. With practically no other software installed this same thins happens. >.<

One suggestion, re-title thread to say RC1 instead of Beta.

Technically, the RC is a beta release, just the final one.  So saying Beta, in general will cover all versions.

And with updates, all versions should tecnically be the same.

Sorry about that, BloodySix.  Hard keeping track of all the posts in the thread sometimes.

Can you tell us all the steps you have done to try to have your games work?

Have you done this:

Enable these settings:

MTU: 1500
NAT: OPEN, enabled
UPnP: enabled

If you require assistance opening them, please follow this link:

Please note: some games may require additional ports. Please view the following article for details on opening these ports:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937424

Forward or open these ports:

    * UDP 53
    * UDP 88
    * UDP 3074
    * TCP 3074
    * TCP 80
    * TCP 53
    * TCP 443

Connection Tutorial:

and

http://forums.gamesforwindows.com/t/4403.aspx

?

I take it you did because if I read the posts correctly, you upgraded to Windows 7?

Could there be a hardware related issue with Windows 7 and your hardware?  And you said you have other non GFWL games that work?

Does the client work outside the game and can you sign into it ok?

Try uninstalling the client and the games, reinstall the client, verify that it works by signing into it, then reinstall the games one at a time.

also, give the GFWL support team a call.  It is much easier working through issues by actually talking to someone.
