If you have a technical problem where you cannot connect to LIVE with any Games for Windows LIVE game, then you shold post your problem here.

Please be consistent in detailing your issue while making edits to your original post if things change while troubleshoooting your issue.

Ideally, anyone who visits the forums and sees your post can easily provide suggestions that you may not have tried.

Also, I will do my best to remove any extraneous post or responses that provide zero to no value.

Without an index, it's hard to categorize technial issues, therefore the template below should be filled in when you post so that if we need to reachout to you or run test on the backend, then we have what we need already to start that process.

 Things you should check beforehand:

  1. Have you installed the latest Games for Windows LIVE software? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/959864
  2. Is the Windows LIVE account you are trying to signin with still valid? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938705
  3. Do you have the latest Windows Service Pack installed? http://support.microsoft.com/sp
  4. Do you reside in a LIVE Supported country? http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/countries.htm
  5. Did you run the Microsoft Internet Connectivity Test and find any errors? http://www.microsoft.com/windows/using/tools/igd/default.mspx

Once you run the connectivity test, you can view a Detailed Report of the test.

You will want to know your NAT cone type and the results of the UPnP Support Test.

Example:

  • The IGD's NAT type is RESTRICTED CONE
  • UPnP is Enabled at Router

Xbox LIVE requires the ability to open ports.

For consumers, UPnP IGD (Internet Gateway Device)protocols are currently supported in most, if not all, router/firewalls in market today. However, not all are enabled by default, please consult with the owners manual for assistance with enabling UPnP on your IGD.

Regarding commercial firewalls, such as what Universities, libraries, corporations, etc. have in place. By design, does not implement or support UPnP IGD specifications. Which is why some gamers who try to play from school or their dorm rooms cannot connect to LIVE. If this is the case for you, then you should contact the IT Administration office to see if their firewall does not support UPnP.

If you still cannot connect after running through the steps above, then please provide responses to the template below.

Issue Type - e.g. LIVE Connectivity, Billing, Account Management, Token, other

Game Title - what is the game with the issue and what is the version, tilte update? If so, what is the version of the game? Event logs should give an indication (refer to Troubleshooting 101 post)

Error Verbatim - specific on screen Error and Event Log error

Detail the steps to reproduce the issue, detailing each mouse click or button push on the controller is always helpful.

Where was the game purschases and in what format? For example: new retail boxed title from gamestop, Direct2Drive, Best Buy, Steam, Ebay (used), etc.

GT - You GamerTag (DO NOT POST YOUR ACCOUNT PASSWORDS - IF YOU DO - YOUR POST WILL BE DELETED) You shuld never provide your password, secret question or secret answer to any on-line message site.

PC/360 - Do you also own a Xbox 360? If so, can it connect to LIVE? It is important to not overlook this quesiton.

ISP - who is your Internet Service Provider

Do you have a PPPoE or direct connection to Internet not needing to provide a username or password to connect?

Conneciton Type - dial-up, DSL, ADSL, FioS (fiber), Cable, Satellite, Cellular (cell phone device connected to data provider),

Router Make/Model/FW version - Name and model number and what firmware version are you using?

Network Type - single pc to router/modem, home workgorup, domain, Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)

Network Location - home, school (dorm), public library, work

Windows version?

Press Start > Run >type WINVER > press OK - provide version and build number, if displayed.

Windows System Type? (Bit version) 32bit  or 64bit

To check: Right click My Computer > Left click Properties > listed in System section.

Firewall / Security Software - using a combination router firewall? or windows firewall, or a 3rd party firewall such as an Anti-Virus & Firewall security applicaiton?

what is the version and who makes the AV/FW software?

LIVE Connection - have you ever connected to LIVE with a PC game in the past or is this your first attempt?

Can you signin to LIVE with the LIVE Client for Windows (GFWL Marketplace)?

If you have more than one Games for Windows LIVE PC game, can any of those games connect?

Ok, so here We go:

1).  I have a problem with LIVE Connectivity

2). Street Fighter 4

3). Error: 0x80151911 or 0x80151007

4). I bought it on Dvd.co.uk

5). DiesIrae7

6). PC

7).  I have PPoA connection. My Internet Sevice Provider is NEOSTRADA.PL (I'm from Poland)

8). I have a router: Linksys WAG354G. I'm not using any drivers for router - Vista is installing my router automatically.

9). Single PC to router

10). I'm using Internet at home

11). Windows Vista SP 1, 32 bit, version 6.0

12). I'm using only ZoneAlarm, version 8.0.298.000

13). Before I was connecting into LIVE via Gears of War. After installing Street Fighter 4 I was logging normaly into LIVE but suddenly something happend and now it's not working.

I tried everything: one methood: with resetting settings (netsh), I opened all required ports, NAT and UPnP are on, tried to shut down Zone Alarm, to add SF4 to Windows firewall, I have installed the latest video drivers, the latest Games for Windows LIVE version etc. I really tried everything. If someone know what's going on, please post it here.

Unfortunately, this is going to be an issue. As you can see, Poland isn't a supported country. I would suggest reading through the thread. Among other things, there is some good information you are going to want to know.

Is your automatic update for windows Vista turned on? From reading this, it doesn't appear to be. The most updated SP for Vista is SP 2, so you may want to try getting that.

What this also means is that you probably don't have the 3.0 client. If this started recently, that might explain the problems. Keep in mind, though, that because Poland isn't on the supported list you may still end up with issues. Getting up to date is never a bad idea, regardless.

Additionally - Check your Background Intelligent Transfer Service in Services.msc

It needs to be Started and Automatic

That could potentially explain why you havent got the new Service Pack and cant connect to GFWL

Ok but please explain me why I could connect to LIVE before? I didn't had any problem with that, everything was ok. Second thing is that I'm registred as a "citizen" of United Kingdom and like I said before, if I would register my account as a polish account, I would not be able to sign in. I don't have automatic upgrade turned off because sometimes it's pissing me off  but I'll download the latest Service Pack. Also I'll try to see what's Background Intelligent Transfer Service in Services.msc means because I have a polish language in my Windows and I never heared about that ;) See You later guys and thx for trying to help.

1) The problem here is LIVE Connectivity.

2) Dawn of War II, specifically.  Any version from release until now.  This is my only GFWL game.

3) LIVE service may be unavailable, or there may be an issue with your home networking equipment or firewall.

4) Downloaded through Steam.

5) CobraUSN

6) Own a 360.  Have no problem connecting to my XBL account through a wired connection.

7) Comcast.

8) Cable.

9) Netgear Rangemax Wireless Router Model WPN824v2, Firmware V2.0.26_1.2.17NA

10) 1 of 2 PCs using Wireless Access through the router.  The 360 uses a wired connection.

11) Version 5.1, SP3, 32 Bit

12) Trend Micro Internet Security 2009 (Always turned off when attempting to connect)

13) No games can connect.  The LIVE Client for Windows has no problem connecting.

I am not sure of the problem.  I have a Sager NP9262, and when I take it to another location using a linksys router I have no problem connecting at all, and he never even configured the router.  If I plug directly into my Cable modem, I can connect with no issue.

The netgear is configured as recommended, with the correct ports open (UDP 53 / 88 / 3074 and TCP 53 / 80 / 3074) with UPnP Installed and enabled, NAT filtering Open and MTU as 1500 bytes.  My IP (to the router) is always 192.68.1.3.

Um, help?

Okay, just tried the Microsoft Connectivity Test.

UPnP test failed.  I just installed it not too long ago and it is enabled on the router.

CobraUSN:

As long as UPnP is enabled at the router and detected by the IGD test, then you are ok. The issue is when it's not enabled at all.

This is what it shoud look like for UPnP on the test results

Result:

The operating system is Windows Vista
The firewall is enabled
Exceptions are allowed by the firewall
UPnP is enabled by the firewall
UPnP services are running
UPnP Discovery is enabled
Detecting Internet Gateway Devices on the network
1 IGD(s) found

From the details you provided in the template, this seems like an obvious WPN824v2 NAT issue. You have provided enough detail to determine that it's not your operating system, your network adapter (nic), your network/internet access, GFWL software, or LIVE. Which leaves you with one variable, the router.

Have you tried the following port forwarding steps? http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Netgear/WPN824v2/Xbox_Live_360.htm

DiesIrae7 - when did the 'suddenly happen' occur? When was the last time you could connect to GFWL?

Did it all of a sudden stop working on 8/11?

Xbox LIVE released a new update which affects all gamers who connect to LIVE, not just GFWL, but other LIVE services as well.

Your traceback does in fact show you are in Poland, which is currently non-Supported, it would be inportant to know when the last time you could connect was and when did you first notice that you were no longer able to connect.

Thank You!

Have you forwarded the ports for GFWL ? If your unsure what the ports are, check the FAQ's and such - all that info is in there, as well you can visiit www.Portforward.com for a walkthrough. See if that clears up your NAT issue :)

Symmetric NAT intrigues me a bit though.

Well I'll tell how it was, from the beginning. I installed Street Fighter 4 exactly on 8/04. Everything was working perfectly for few days but later I had a problem with USB drivers etc. so I decided to reinstall Windows. After reinstalling and upgrading LIVE to the newest version I was unable to connect. It was before 08/11. My game logs into LIVE randomly but everytime after logging into LIVE, I was turning off the game and then I couldn't connect. The last time when I could connect to LIVe was exactly 08/11 and I connected only once. Now I can't connect no matter how much I'm trying. Please tell me Xezerez, about what new Xbox Live update you've mentioned?
