I have opened all the ports, but doing this -as well as disabling firewall & antivirus - has no effect.

I have run windows update & am fully updated & have synchronized the time.

i have solved the problem for me. It was the router who strangely didn't forward the ports anymore. i did a firmware update, a risky one, because the firmware that enables port forwarding 100% was removed from the companie's website, because it crashed some routers. but that was years ago and no new update came. some guys who got the firmware uploaded the file to rapidshare then. it's working great right now and i can access both gfwl and xbl.

DiesIrae7:

Ok, so here We go:

1).  I have a problem with LIVE Connectivity

2). Street Fighter 4

3). Error: 0x80151911 or 0x80151007

4). I bought it on Dvd.co.uk

5). DiesIrae7

6). PC

7).  I have PPoA connection. My Internet Sevice Provider is NEOSTRADA.PL (I'm from Poland)

8). I have a router: Linksys WAG354G. I'm not using any drivers for router - Vista is installing my router automatically.

9). Single PC to router

10). I'm using Internet at home

11). Windows Vista SP 1, 32 bit, version 6.0

12). I'm using only ZoneAlarm, version 8.0.298.000

13). Before I was connecting into LIVE via Gears of War. After installing Street Fighter 4 I was logging normaly into LIVE but suddenly something happend and now it's not working.

I tried everything: one methood: with resetting settings (netsh), I opened all required ports, NAT and UPnP are on, tried to shut down Zone Alarm, to add SF4 to Windows firewall, I have installed the latest video drivers, the latest Games for Windows LIVE version etc. I really tried everything. If someone know what's going on, please post it here.

This is a common occurrence. After trying everything mention above, which may or may not be the issue, you probably have corrupted files either in the GFWL client or the game.

You said you had Gears of War before and it worked.  Is it still working?

First, uninstall both the client and SF4.  Make sure you do a full uninstall, that is remove the folders for both items.  I believe the GFWL Client will remove the folder when you uninstall it.  Remember to remove both instance of the GFWL Client from Programs and features, that includes the redistributable as well.

Reinstall the client and sign into it to be sure.  Then, install the game.  If this fails to work, then the next step.

in Programs and Features, uninstall Microsofts .Net framework totally.  Then reinstall IN ORDER including any updates as you go.  You might want to go to www.microsoft.com/downloads to download the packages.

Sometimes your TCP/IP stack and winsock can become corrupted and need to be redone.

Go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357 to reset your TCP/IP.  Remember to reboot after this.

For your winsock, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811259. Again reboot after setting.

One other thing I didn't see mentioned above was to make sure you have your range in your router for MTU set to include 1500.

See:

TCP port 80 (Internet)
TCP port 443 (Sign In)
TCP port 3074 (Content Download)

Source:                              Destination:

UDP 1024-5000                 UDP 88
UDP 3074                          UDP 3074

If you require assistance opening them, please follow this link:

Please note: some games may require additional ports. Please view the following article for details on opening these ports:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937424

MTU: 1500
NAT: OPEN, enabled
UPnP: enabled

These are the following ports used by GFWL games:

    * UDP 53
    * UDP 88
    * UDP 3074
    * TCP 3074
    * TCP 80
    * TCP 53
    * TCP 443

Hope this helps

CobraUSN:

1) The problem here is LIVE Connectivity.

2) Dawn of War II, specifically.  Any version from release until now.  This is my only GFWL game.

3) LIVE service may be unavailable, or there may be an issue with your home networking equipment or firewall.

4) Downloaded through Steam.

5) CobraUSN

6) Own a 360.  Have no problem connecting to my XBL account through a wired connection.

7) Comcast.

8) Cable.

9) Netgear Rangemax Wireless Router Model WPN824v2, Firmware V2.0.26_1.2.17NA

10) 1 of 2 PCs using Wireless Access through the router.  The 360 uses a wired connection.

11) Version 5.1, SP3, 32 Bit

12) Trend Micro Internet Security 2009 (Always turned off when attempting to connect)

13) No games can connect.  The LIVE Client for Windows has no problem connecting.

I am not sure of the problem.  I have a Sager NP9262, and when I take it to another location using a linksys router I have no problem connecting at all, and he never even configured the router.  If I plug directly into my Cable modem, I can connect with no issue.

The netgear is configured as recommended, with the correct ports open (UDP 53 / 88 / 3074 and TCP 53 / 80 / 3074) with UPnP Installed and enabled, NAT filtering Open and MTU as 1500 bytes.  My IP (to the router) is always 192.68.1.3.

Um, help?

Dingle1999:

UPDATE:

I ended up calling a GFWL toll free number. The support staff answered immediately: no waiting on hold in a queue.  It took about an hour and a half of trying different things out and in the end the problem was resolved by resetting the TCP/IP stack and rebooting.

* "netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt"

It's too bad that we didn't try that first or that isn't documented on any of troubleshooting guides I found online - would have saved some time.  But I do appreciate how Microsoft is making an effort to provide support to frustrated customers of GFWL.

PS:

I tried to edit the original post, but the forum software crashes.

Please be aware that anyone doing trouble shooting will start with either the easiest fix or the fix that will cover the most common issues first.  Unfortunately, as you discovered, we don't live in a perfect world.  Glad to hear you are up and running though.

For everyone posting connectivity problems to this thread, please follow Xezerez instructions.  It is hard to help anyone if you are just saying you cannot sign in etc.

One piece of info that is very useful is if this is your first GFWL game or you had previous GFWL games that worked.

Oblivionz:

Hello,

I have recently uninstalled G4WL, and removed all directories and files pertaining to G4WL (As a solution for the Section 8 game crash, which didn't work anyhow).  Now, however, I downloaded the newest version and ran the installation.  I had a problem with that, but found out I needed to download a .net framework update, which was odd, because the G4WL worked perfect until I uninstalled it.

Now my problem is, I have run the installation, but its not on my system!  Whenever I try to run a G4WL game(Fallout 3, Street Fighter 4), I get an error message saying that the xlive.dll file can not be found.  Is there another file to download other than the gfwlsetupmin.exe?

Thanks in advance

It sounds like your GFWL Client is corrupted.  Uninstall both the GFWL Client and it's redistributable, download and install the latest version and then once installed, sign in to be sure it is working well.

Also be sure your PC (everything) is up to date.

If you are still having issues, uninstall and reinstall your games COMPLETELY.  That means deleting the folders as well.

Your Thompson Speed Touch acts as an IGD Internet Gateway Device.... Which means it acts as a single port router. You may need to login to the speed touch and Open the ports for LIVE....

Can you also run this test http://www.microsoft.com/windows/using/tools/igd/default.mspx

Let the test run when it is finished

Check to see if everything passes

if it does click on "View Detailed Report"

and what you care about is the Network Address Translator Type

This will tell us what type of cone you have

What I would like to know is how can they sell the games in countries that are not supported? I have now bought Red Faction Guerilla and Resident Evil 5 from Steam  and both use GFWL. I live in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and it's not supported.

I can't play online, i can't play offline.

I really hate GFWL.

This is really bad, Stephan. You even can't play it offline?
