I have opened all the ports needed for GFWL and GTA 4

2 things

everything else being equal, open your NAT or enable it on your router.  MTU should be 1500

Are all the ports needed to be open, opened?

also, if you are PPPOE and you have a new router, you may have to choose this connection type in your router and put in your ISP ID and password that you were given.  Do you have a separate Modem, or is the Modem/router the only device between your PC and the telephone line?

By the way, a modem/router is technically called a gateway.

As far as I can see I dont have an option in my router that allows me turn turn my NAT open moderate etc unless its called something different.

MTU is set at 1500

All ports are opened. Here is a link to a screeny:

I am PPPOE and ISP details have been entered.

I did have a dedicated modem and router but the modem failed and now this modem/router (or Gateway) is the only device between PC and phone line.

I suggest getting out your router manual and brush up on accessing and modifying it. NAT is usually a part of the router/gateway features.

you may want to contact you ISP just to be sure they aren't controlling it because they do sometimes.

Is your UPnP enabled in your gateway as well?

Did you open all 6 ports?

The aren't.

Yes

Yes. Refer to my screenshot I linked in my previous post.

There is no straight option that allows me to change my NAT setting, it seems belkins answer to NAT relating issues is the use of DMZ.

So after playing some more here is what I discovered:

1. When I set my comp to the DMZ and Firewall turned on, my NAT type changes to open.... (problem solved I suppose).

2. When DMZ is disabled and the firewall is disabled, my NAT type is set to strict.

My understanding of DMZ is that it puts the designated device/PC outside the protection of the Firewall, If so then why the hell is my NAT type still set to strict when my Firewall is turned off all together?

All I can say is maybe to contact your router manufacturer for tech support or see about a different router that is more configurable.

Good luck.

By the way, did you get all your issues resolved?

Yes

Have you done this along with enabling UPNP on your gateway?

After enabling UPNP on your network device & through your OS. Try method 1, then 2 of this post. http://forums.gamesforwindows.com/t/785.aspx

Changing System Settings
The “System Settings” page is where you can enter a new administrator password, set the time zone, enable remote management, and turn on and off the NAT function of the Router.
