Hi all,

I have just brought BAA and fully installed it and etc, but unfortunately once Games for Windows - Live prompt me with an update availble. My system could only get to about 98% (in about 2 secs) and stays there for half an hr + and would not do anything else.

Is there another way to get around this problem !

Thx all !.

There might be an update mirror that you might use.  I did not have any problems just that it took a while.

Hi there whatsupBenson,

When the updating starts and the progress bar begins to move, have you tried minimizing the game to check that there is no firewalls blocking the connection and that there is no install screen up for the new patch?

This is caused by a network device or security software that is blocking the update from finishing. Do you have the required ports port fowarded & or are you using UPNP?

GFWModerator:
Open Port Requirements
The following ports are required to be opened to use Games for Windows - LIVE.

      - TCP 80
      - UDP 88
      - UDP 3074
      - TCP 3074
      - UDP 53
      - TCP 53
      - TCP 443

To make sure that these ports are open, or to open these ports, contact the network administrator or the Internet Service Provider (ISP). If you are the administrator of the network, check the documentation that is provided with your networking software to determine how to open these ports.

This happened on mine, I just left it for a while and eventually it ticked over.

I'm having a similar problem.  It took about 20 minutes or so, maybe longer, but it got it... then logged out of the game, came back in, and started downloading it AGAIN.  Only this time it's taking even longer.

If the Mods wish to know, I'm using Vista Home Premium 64-bit.  I have high speed internet (and am, obviously connected), a Windows Live account, a powerful computer (third or so from top of the line), and Windows Firewall is turned off just to make sure that's not what is causing it.

Hi,

thx for the advice, i have figured out what is causing the problem. I am using Norton Internet Security 2009 and once I have disabled all the firewalls and anti-virus the update downloaded and installed successfully.

thx for the help!

kindly appreciated

If its downloading the patch again, then it did not complete the install proccess. Since you are on Vista, after it downloads, it will prompt for UAC permission. When I updated this game it did not make the UAC sound, nor did UAC popup over the desktop. Instead it poped up minimized & I had to Alt-TAB to bring it up. Then it opened a installation dialog box.
