Hello, I have a question about Games For Windows Live. I used to have an Xbox 360 with a Live account but I don't use Xbox anymore and I hate the idea that my Games For Windows Account is linked to Xbox Live. I have an idea in my head and I just want to see if this will work.
My Xbox tag is Phisylus, and I'm thinking if I change my Xbox gamertag to something like Phisylus18 could I make a Game For Windows Tag using the gamertag Phisylus?
I don't know if this work cause I don't know how many accounts I can have with my hotmail email.
Also, how many gamertags can I use my liscence key on? If it's just 1, I guess I'm out of luck then.
Technically yes you can however you can use your same Xbox LIVE account with Games for Windows LIVE since it is the same service just sign in with you WLID and Password

You can have only 1 gamertag per Windows LIVE ID

That depends on the game. What game are you trying to play?
You'd have to create a new Live ID and move your GT to the New Live ID and create a new GT with your old Live ID
Keep on Defraggin...
I have GTA 4, Halo 2, Resident Evil 5, Kane and Lynch, Universe At War, and Gears of War.
Well I just tried to create a new Live tag with my e-mail, but I can't use the email I want cause it keeps signing me into my phisylus live tag for some reason.
you have to use the change LIVE ID feature on an Xbox 360 console in order to attach your new live id to your old GT, then use your New Live ID to create your old GT name with.
It won't let me cause I can only have 1 ID for my hotmail account and I don't want to make another one because I only use 1 e-mail.
without creating a 2nd live id you cant move your GT to a different account
So you want use the name of your old Xbox Live account on a new GFWL account ,by changing the name of your old Xbox account?
That sounds like it should work.
only if he creates a live id to switch the accounts with.
1: Create a live ID
2: Use Xbox to change the live id of the old GT to the new Live ID. (Frees the GT of a Live ID)
3: Use old Live ID to create a new GT
phisylus:I have GTA 4, Halo 2, Resident Evil 5, Kane and Lynch, Universe At War, and Gears of War.
All these games should be fine, if you have more than one GFWL account using the same LIVE key.
Just be careful about reinstalling, reformatting, etc. because even though more than one LIVE account can use the same key for these games, the number of times you can use that key is limited.
As long as he doesnt format his pc. You can login and use the GFWL service with multiple accounts on the same game with the same pc as long as the key has been entered by at least 1 account
Yeah, if you only want one email address, then I don't think you'll even have to use the key again, because its just the gamertag changing, not the Windows LIVE ID.
So don't worry about my advice about the product key.... I should have read the post thouroughly before adding that

Xbox, GFWL, & Zune gamertags require a email account to link them. You cannot use the same email address on multiple gamertags. So you will have to log into www.passport.net/ with your "Phisylus" gamertag & change the email address to a different address. After doing that, it will free up the email address that you want to use with your GFWL gamertag.

The games that you have mentioned do not link the product key to your gamertag. Instead is is linked to the PC ID of your computer. As long as you do not reformat the PC you are free to install & uninstall on the same PC as much as you desire.
