Ok, so i ran CPU-Z and it said the package i had was Socket 775 LGA, well i ran that in google and came up with a few things, then i ran it through newegg and got a bunch of processors with the same type if socket, one of them being a core 2 duo and quad, now, i know some of you might have seen my pc, so i can save alot of dough by just upgrading the CPU, Video card, and PSU, but here's my question, as long as i get the same type of socket cpu, is this upgrade possible????

My Current CPU is a Intel Pentium 4 630 (3.00ghz with HT technology)

Codename: Prescott

Current PSU is a 225watt, but i can upgrade it

and my current video card is a Nividia 7300GS (PCI-E)

Thank You In advance for the help

GivenToFly11:

#1 You don't need to make two threads

#2 No it's not going to work. Your motherboard is ancient. Core 2 CPU's will not work on it.

Anyways, I'm off to work soon. If you have any more questions I'll answer them when I get back.

PS: Upgrading your computer is a waste of money. I'm not trying to be an a$ but from what I say the majority of upgrades will not be compatible and it's just a waste.

1. i got that wierd application page after i posted the 1st time, so i didn't know until i posted the 2nd one that i double posted

2. Well, idk, i'm doing alot of research and it seems like the 945 chipsets could run some core 2's

This was just an extreme budget build i wouldnt build any less than a quad core or higher for myself and would never pay for an already built pc.

im gone to be doing a 250 dollar quad core (amd makes a 99 dollar quad core)  build for a mate of mine when he gets his money together
