Alright, I have the Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000.  It works great in GFWL games but other pc games no.

In Left 4 Dead, I can talk to people with my mic, but when people talk to me, their voices goes to my desktop speakers, not my mic.  So...any help?

Steam help is a joke      ok is the mic usb? and if so you might need to fiddle with the settings then launch the game  on steam icon try clicking it ?(right click) then settings    in there is a voice tab   "recording (audio input) device"  try that   I use a a reg cable Microphone FP (Creative SB X-Fi)  so im not 100% on this   hope this helps a bit or points you the right way

Recording is no problem, the audio output is the problem.  Why can't steam have a opition for voice output.  I mean really.

You have to set  Lifechat LX-3000 to default in your playback devices in order to hear sound from the headset speakers. So you have to choose if you want to hear sound from your 5.1 system, just through the Lifechat LX-3000 or use it like you have been. I prefer the third way because the headset makes me too hot.

Yea but it will also add in the game sounds.  Isn't there a way i can seperate those two?  The voice sounds and the game sounds.

That is the difference between the two. XBL, GFWL has the ability to seperate the voice. I don't recall any PC games having a option like that.

I agree, its the best investment ive made for PC gaming, its deff worth the money, its comfortable, the sound is Amazing, (better then i expected) and voice playback and quality is just great.

If people are looking for a good non expensive gaming headset, then id deffinatly suggest this headset

I bought this about a year ago now and it was origionally 80 dollars Canadian, but since then ive heard its gone down in price so its deffinatly worth it. However if you are looking for an expensive surround sound headset, id deffinatly suggest the Astro A40 gamming headsets as they are just Phenominal but just over 240 dollars US.
