Well, i'm trying to change my vista startup sound. Now in XP that was easy as pie, but apparently i have to give an arm and a leg to change the vista sound. Can anyone help?

P.S. this is what i'm changing it to

Go to Control Panel, Account Settings, Account Family and Safety, User Accounts, and Turn UAC on or off.

Set it to off.

lol, had that off since vista came out, but no, that's not the problem, it's saying i don't have permission to change system32 files

You need to take ownership of the file then.

Right click the file, properties, and go to the security tab. Go to advanced, owner, and edit. It says ownership SYSTEM right?

Change that to Administrator. Apply and get out of their. Then go back to the security tab and click on edit and allow the write permission, etc. Whatever you need.

i figured it out, thanks for the help
