See, this is exactly why BitTorrent sites are so popular. The pirates know what gamers want: a game that works. As long as the pirate are releasing a BETTER product than the software publishers [ yes, it is the PUBLISHER'S, not developers, fault ], they will continue to prosper.

I personally will never again purchase any EA, Microsoft or Ubisoft game again. I'm close to swearing off all Rockstar and Activision games as well (though they can still salvage their reputations if they act quickly). If they get any of my money, it will be because I have downloaded the pirated, WORKING copy of their game and have consequently sent them a random check.

Bleh... this post will be deleted soon. Microsoft hates truth and there is no FUD in this post :-/

Oh well, I don't pay for their ***, either. Viva Linux!

what kind of system do you have lethalman1 this trick sounds nice but i dont want to fry my system or something because of it I only have a inspiron 530 e4500 duo core @ 2.2ghz with a nvidia geforce 8500 gt 512mb vid with 2gb ram to be upgraded to 3 or 4 soon and windows vista

ahh guys guys

OK. I FOUND HOW TO SEt THE GRAPHICS AS HIGH AS YOU WANT.

1. go to desktop and right click and create a shortcut

2. take it to LaunchGTAIV.exe

3. now right click your created shortcut and under "target" replace with the following <"C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV\LaunchGTAIV.exe" -norestrictions -availablevidmem 1.0 -nomemrestrict -percentvidmem 100>

4. Launch GTA ALWAYS THROUGH THERE (make sure to be logged in on rockstar social club online/offline doesnt matter)

5. Once GTA IV IS LAUNCHED you can set the settings on as high as you want

(There is a considerable amount of increase in performance primarly due to this code)

I tried that, and the game still crashed when I tried to log into my online profile. If an admin or a mod is reading this, my gamertag is Zcool31

Could you check if there's anything wrong with it? I really want to play multiplayer.

Hi guys, i've been following these forums closley as i was planning to get the game, i just joined the forums so hello!

I bought GTA 4 today on PC, jus finished installing an hour ago.

I experienced no problems at all, no errors or anything. Im playing 1680x1050 (60hz) resolution and the graphics are superb. Everything is running smoothley.

I will report any problems if they occur.

I am also getting mma10 too and I have GTA IV and completed it on Xbox 360 but I was looking forward to the Replay Editor!

K. So. Do this.

launch GTA 4. DON'T LOGIN TO ROCKSTAR SOCIAL CLUB OR WINDOWS LIVE!

now, after it opened up, tab out of it (Alt + Tab).

In the system tray is Rockstar Social Club. Open it up and LOGIN!

Now I know all you are all WTF OMG BBQ can't login to WINDOWS LIVE! Gotta go offline mode =\

Well now that you logged into Social Club by tabbing out. YOU CAN!

Though, my game still crashes when I open the game map.

To create an offline profile, open up the Guide (the home key does this by default) and choose create new profile, then choose offline profile. It will allow you to save, but you won't get achievements or gamerscore.

Welcome to the forums, stefaanbanaan.

I can understand your frustrations, but I want to let you know that you can easily save your game offline as well, by creating an "offline profile". That's what most people have been using to play the single-player game, till R* releases the patch. If you are unsure how to create an offline profile, I would be glad to assist. Also, you may wish to go through the LIVE Techincal issues forum in case you are having other problems.

I have never seen such a pile of nonsense packed together in one game. It took me more than an hour to get it installed with all this additional crap i could NEVER wish for in a game, then it turns out to be malfunctioning in some unseen ways.

The fact that logging in to LIVE doesn't work is only collateral damage to the most irritating fact that it is REQUIRED to login if you are going to save your game! Why oh why??? At least provide us with some menu in which we can CHOOSE to play on- or offline... and thus also SAVE offline...

Congratulations on a job not yet done/ badly done/ over the top commercially done.

Well, I'm sorry that you are missing out on the multiplayer features, but I can tell you for certain that the single-player gameplay is phenomenal in itself, and does much more than compensate for the price. Also, when multiplayer is available in your country, you will have an instant thriving and mature online community to interact with in multiplayer mode.

However, at the end of the day, it's your call.

Well, I just spoke to a microsoft support line staff here in czech republic, and they do not have any current/official information on whether or when will czech republic be integrated into Windows LIVE. She also explained that they do regulary receive updated about expansion plans and stuff, covering a period of half a year to a full year, and there are no information about this in particular.

That is a pitty and I am surelly going to return the game back. It is a total SCAM. I was mainly buying the game for the multiplayer features.

Hello there, I'm a regular user, but I'll be glad to answer some of your questions. If you are not in a LIVE supported country, unfortunately you cannot play multiplayer through LIVE. However, that does not mean you can't play single-player and save your game progress (done by creating an offline profile).

Also, I personally feel that LIVE is expanding rapidly, and even though a few countries aren't covered as of yet, they will be soon enough.
