I can't believe I'm getting this problem now, 6 months after the latest post in this thread. Microsoft still hasn't fixed the problem? Ive done everything sugested in this thred, it still won't work! Is there a link to a new fix?

Worked like a charm. =)

After changing the registry and installing the hotfix I simply changed everything back again. After that everything worked as it should and I actually got to play the game.

So a big thank you to CoolingGibbon!

Hopefully Microsoft will solve this problem by translating the hotfix to other languages, but until then CoolingGibbon is our first and last line of defence.

Try this fix...

Open up the registry editor (Start-->Run-->Type "regedit") and do the following:

Be sure to backup your registry first, in case something goes wrong. This trick works for XP SP3 installation on non-english systems, so it's worth a try.

To change the system installed in place of language, run registration editor, and then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ ControlSet001 \ Control \ Nls \ language registry key, and then change the value date for the "default" and "InstallLanguage" the value of the registration of "0409" on behalf of American English.

Then go to Regional and Language settings in the Control Panel, and change the default language to US English. Then click on the Advanced tab and change the language there as well.

Click OK and restart the system. That should hopefully solve your problem Good luck.

Yes, I keep getting the message that tells me the hotfix does not work with the language on my PC.

The message is the same that has been posted earlier, by others, on this thread.

I think there are a screenshot somewhere in this thread.

I just bought the Operation Anchorage plug-in for Fallout III, and I keep getting the "0x800B0003" meaning I can't install due to WinVerifyTrust. The hotfix on:

..does not work on my PC.

I'm running Windows XP Home edition SP3 in Swedish, but this hotfix only seems to help US users.

Why is there no hotfix for mu language and when will I be able to download it?

Usualy I'm quite relaxed about these things, but since I actually paid for the plug-in I do expect to be able to actually use it.

Help, please. =)

For all those that need the windows XP Hotfix. Go here, select Windows XP, fill in your email address, confirm email address, do the letter thing, and hit Request Hotfix. I had an email in 5 seconds, but it could be longer.. Link to file is in the email, as well as the password to that file.

Just run the file, it will ask for password. I just copied/pasted the password into the dialog box. It runs the fix, and asks for a restart.

You should be done..!!!!

Then, open control panel and select the language and where to start. At the local selection and advanced tab, set the English language (U.S.) non-Unicode programs of the default format and language. Click on "OK", and then re-starting system.

0409" on behalf of American English - 0409 is the American English number

Do you know what number Danish is? or how to find out? i have great trouble finding out

i think that it is no big deal to localize this. But i think, that Microsoft is not interested in publishing an 'old' operating system hotfix.

My system and my "games for windows live" runs like hell. I also changed my regedit-settings back to german and nothin' happend.

It's great, that you want to warn us. But i think that also an upcoming patch would not cause any problem.

Not sure that everyone knows or if they are willing to wait, but Microsoft is working to get this hotfix provided in all the LIVE supported languages. Taking a little time to get all of them localized I guess.

Because these suggestions using regedit circumvent the regional check for the hotfix, its important to know that what you are doing is being done AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I dont' thinik Microsoft is going to help if something goes wrong cause we installed a US hotfix on a non-US system. Plus, I am not sure what will happen when we try to update the hotfix with the German version when its released. Will it update over Engish one or will we have to manually remove and regsvr32 /u all the components? While we can uninstall the hotfix, the registry entries will remain, msicuu does a poor job of cleaning up this. So, with that said...

If anything was or is to go wrong with your system, you should restore usng the System Restore under System Configuraiton Utility

start > run > msconfig > ok
