Yesterday i have been playing GTA4 for 10Minutes (Team Deathmatch) and i saw the first cheater.

Every 3-5 minutes another cheater joined and after 20minutes there have been 4 cheaters on the same server.

I was playing with my brother on the server and while we were talking we noticed one user who we could not select in our PhoneBook.

WITH EVERY CHEATER WE SEE WE TRY TO KICK HIM BUT THIS USER WAS CHEATING AND HAS A NAME GENERATOR OR SOMETHING, AND NO ONE WAS ABLE TO KICK THIS GUY!!! I swear this is true. My brother and me talked about it and some other players on the server have noticed this!!!

I love GTA4 and the Multiplayer but until RockstarGames and WindowsLive uses an anti cheat protection there is no more fun to play this game Online.

PLEASE, PLAESE, PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO STOP IT!

Nobody seems to care about "reporting to MSLIVE...", i reported every cheater i have seen but their have been many players and i often have seen the same Player on another server 2-3 weeks later cheating again...

The kick system is stupid. Infact, the whole interface is dumb.

Why not allow the person who started the server to have admin rights on it? Unless I am missing something, the only way to kick someone is to get 50% of the people to do it.

This is a problem. Many people don't care and wont kick. Others are cheaters themselves. I wonder why Microsoft decided to stick their noses in a poorly ported game? The game is fun, but the whole interface is based on the limits of a console. They need to start making computer games and porting them to consoles, because the bugs in this game is ridiculous. I can't play for more than 15-60 minutes without the game crashing, and the load time of it is the longest I have ever seen in any game.

Anyways, I could go on complaining, but I should start loading the game and then I can shower/grab some coffee and breakfast before it loads =D

Yes, you are right! Democracy in games is not working..:! (just like in reality, many people do not want to vote or do not know that they can vote... :D haha^^)

I hope they start something against the cheaters, otherwise the GTA4 multiplayer dies...

This stinks.

I hate you Microsoft and RockstarGames, start doing something against it... The game has become unplayable because of cheating bitches. 2 weeks more and there are only cheaters playing against each other...

MSLive SUCKS!!!

Ok, so heres what JUST happened...

A player with rapid missle killed me...I asked everyone to vote him out. Of course, only like 3 out of 20 do...So they let him keep playing.

WELL, what happens after a few minutes, this player says "everyone server crash now" and BAM, my GTA crashes and windows spits out the message that it has been closed by DEP because it was a security threat.

The players name is Ensmichael. I have reported him MANY times since I bought this game. I am seriously tired of this. Now they have the ability to crash our games?

I'd like to see a person on this board really tell me that they really review our complaints. Please, its all a joke. LIVE is a joke.

Ah another one..

This time, he dropped a TON of tankers in and kicked us all out because our game is running to slow. Another guy was invisible driving around. I could not see who it was.

Why dont LIVE admins start responding to these messages? OH! because they don't ban people for cheating.

I wrote some Emails to RockstarGames.

They are friendly and reply but they do not have a clue about cheating and cannot help in any way. I think that the next patch for GTA4 will not help to prevent cheating in any ways...

sucks

Cheating is rampant in multi-player, its rather sad. Almost every game has 1 or more blatant cheaters using; godmode, car spawners, aimbots, spam rocket launchers (which crashes half the players), increased health/armor, invincible vehicles, and many more game breaking cheats. I mean this game is fricking awsome multi player....WITHOUT CHEATS. But game after game the same guys do the same things, the kick system does not work, they just rejoin, change ips, and or use other accounts. They just get their friends and other cheaters to pad their rep.

This game needs PB or some other anti cheat sub program to deal with this so that the guys with haxs get kicked and or can't play unless they turn em off. This won't stop the hardcore haxors but will help to curb the less smart ones who just simply DL haxs.

I wrote a few letters too, but no reply. All they have to do is join a few large multi player games and see what kinda filth is ruining this great game.

Just play the game as it is, no cheats. It is good fun, but not enjoyable when Jimmy the cheater enters the server and proceeds to kill all the non-cheaters and thinks he's skilled and cool. Pretty much multi player is messed up; I can't even imagine rank matches being even remotely fair, hence why no one even plays those (unless you cheat).

I wonder if we could entice PB and windows live to get together and come up with a solution since RG is blind and deaf to our pleas. I just wish that server hosts had more control over the kick system since the current one totally fails. The report system on live is also useless since nothing gets done about it and there are numerous loopholes to get around it.

Great game when no one cheats, but dimes to dollars people will cheat knowing full well nothing will be done about it.

Well here's hoping next version of GTA has better systems to rid ourselfs of blatant cheaters cus this one is toast.

Hi all, this is my 1st post here, people suggested posting here instead of on gtaforums all the time, great tips on how to optimize the game there.

here is my experience with gta iv with gfwl
multiplayer was awesome when there were no one cheating, possibly the most fun i have ever had on a multiplayer game, even when losing i was often lmao,  but the cheaters have been ruining the mp for more than a month, maybe 2, most of the time you do not know who is dumping objects, solid roadblocks, big pile of vehicles especially in a race, i have to run the game at very low settings else my game or pc will crash and i have a pretty good rig.

the worst one i have experienced was in a race, someone joined in whilst others were racing and rather than them waiting for the next round, they spawned themselves into the game on foot and with a machine gun rpg and started blowing up everyones vehicle up, it is just way out of control and it is clear this game is fully being exploited, yet nothing has been fixed still.

gfwl really need an additional anticheat app like punkbuster which could be tied to gfwl and if it picks up on a persistent cheater they get banned permanently, that i believe is exactly what it needs.

it would also be good to have dedicated servers to cut down the lag which spoils the experience, seeing cars teleport and do strange things makes for a bad race.

just a moment ago my brother was playing on death match, he is a newb, i admin his pc whenever it needs sorting out, pc's are just not his strong point, back to what i was saying he was on death match, cheaters were using spawned vehicles and had machine gun rpg's if it was me i would have just left the game as soon as i seen cheaters but he stayed on, his pc froze, he called for my help i managed to exit the game for him then i tried to run the game again and it gave an error message saying it was a copied disc, so i just rebooted his pc and it worked ok then, this is a huge security flaw as far as i can see, the game is being exploited big time and ms gfwl don't seem to be doing anything about it, kicking & reporting cheaters just does not cut it as they can simply come straight back and everyone has to vote kick again.

since patch 1.0.2.0 single player has been perfectly fine with a very nice frame rate for me i use the  -memrestrict 629145600 command line for high textures, i have everything on max except for view distance at 25 --- detail distance at 70 --- vehicle density at 40 --- shadows on 1 --- 1920x1200 res

this is my rig
custom high performance air cooled case by myself --- enermax galaxy 1000 --- asus rampage formular x48 motherboard --- q6600 @ 3.6ghz running very cool --- 4gb ddr2 @ 1000mhz --- auzentech prelude x-fi sound card --- nvidia bfg gtx285 ocx --- wd raptor 150gb hdd --- vista 64 sp1 with all updates and latest drivers and bitdefender total security 2009 --- gta iv with the command line -memrestrict 629145600 for high textures

i set it up for my brother also, his pc runs with a 700w hyper psu --- gigabyte p35-ds4 motherboard --- 4gb ddr2 800mhz --- auzentech x-plosion sound card --- 8800gtx --- standard hdd --- vista 32 sp1 all updates & latest drivers and bitdefender total security 2009. he is running it at 1080p and everything on max except for view distance at 1 --- detail distance at 40 --- vehicle density at 30 --- shadows on 1 and it runs perfectly fine with the command line -memrestrict 629145600

i really hope this gets fixed very soon else gfwl truly sucks

I've been accused of cheating several times. I played yesterday, and I jumped into the middle of a player TDM that had about 20 minutes left of an hour( my estimate considering the score and time left) I was killed 3 times in about 2 minutes. Then another guy joins and within 30 seconds I shoot him. Respawn must have been set to near because within another minute I shot him again. Both were pretty lucky shots as I am an average player at best. The guy accused me of using an aiming mod and told everyone else I was cheating.  I'm not sure what the others who had such an easy time killing me thought but several others tried to kick me based on this one guy saying I'm cheating.

I think this is why the option to kick is so cumbersome so as to not be abused.

I'm not saying there's not plenty of cheating going on but I've seen plenty of people being accused of cheating who aren't. Some people are just really good.

I play MP every day and hopefully this will be sorted out, but it doesn't stop me from playing.

That seems to happen a fair bit also,  It is bad when you know your not cheating and get accused of it because everyone is getting too used to cheaters wreking the game, a lot of people seem to be either tollerating it, or joining the cheats, or deserting the game until a genuine fix comes along, or just plain desert it for good and resell the game.

I like the racing mostly, but with solid road blocks appearing and piles of objects, vehicles being spawned, It can easily make the game crash or even your pc, and many people have deserted the game, I can fully understand why, I'm still waiting for a fix on this problem until I play again.

It genuinely needs a good anticheat which gets updated regular else trainer coders will be doing the same thing a couple of days or even 1 day after a fix gets released and then the mass idiots will soon have access to the trainer and we'll be right back where we are now.

When u plug some guy in the head with a full clip and their health bar doesn't move, you know they are cheating. Then they spam RPG hack and crash all players within their vicinity as a finale. I think I should start filming these people as proof of the rampant cheating going on. Maybe then some you nay sayers will see what I see everyday. Early in the evening, there is not so many but later on its hardcore cheats. Godmode, increased health/armor, all weapons, invincible cars, speed hacks, RPG spam from foot and cars, car/ramp spawners, etc; if you honestly have not seen this going on you must be on the cheaters team and or ignorant.

Good game when no one cheats, crap game when people do. And there is no way to curb or stop it atm. Load up a trainer and you are good to go. It's BS.

PB pls or some sort of way to deal with these people, the kick system is junk and fails. The people with cheaters on their teams never vote them out, so there is no point. IMO, not voting to kick a cheater means you support them and just as bad as they are.

Anyhow, I doubt RG or Windows Live will do anything about it now. Low sales and low amount of players means no fixes or solutions at all. I doubt either of them even care, that is delegated to games that have a large user number. Maybe the community modders will be the ones to correct this, but I doubt that as well...unless a miracle happens, this game is toast. All it takes is one cheater to ruin a game, and boy; every game has them. It's kinda weird though....Enemy Territory, the old free multiplayer shooter has PB....yet a retail game like this has none. Wth, man.

Damn u Rockstar Games!!!

I love GTA4, it is a great game and i never had this much fun playing online against others in multiplayer.

But instead of implementing a working anti-cheat protection like punkbuster you thought it is a good idea spending 200k on a protection which has been cracked after 2 weeks (see GTA IV Crack Securom Bypass Launcher UBER-PROPER-FeD0R or Razorlight) ...seems a bit like money wasted or not?

The Protection is useless, everybody who wants to play online needs a serial, the crack is no help to play online...

AND STOP IGNORING THE CHEATING PROBLEMS, f*** "Games for Windows live"!

I agree that gta 4 multiplayer has the potential to be an awesome online experience, if the platform that controls the multiplayer function wasn't shitty and the game itself did a better job of file checking. I think I along with probably many others whom that spent their hard earned money on an experience that they were hyped up to by the games manufacturer, I am solidly disappointed not moreover that the protections in placed were so easily broken and manipulated, but that either or both of the companies resposible havent stepped in and done more about it by now. I mean, I cant say that one of them are(plural?) doing something about it, but if they are, they sure havent let the cat out of the bag to any of the people that are displeased and annoyed with the situation.

I think I have to agree with the poster above, I hope the next gta online game will be tighter than a virgin's................well you know what I mean, cause with cheaters playing, this *** sucks big ole hairy nuckin futs. Although I see the cheating as overly exploited in every way, I can also see that in the madness and chaos of being blown sky high by a guy with an uzi that shoots rockets at the speed of light, and seeing players able to spawn all objects into the game and physically position them and fasten them to the eviroment at will creating SOMETIMES fun and interesting ways to manipulate the gameplay mechanic and  use it for the sake of trying to make the game better and not trying to make it worse. It makes me realize that if harnessed correctly the power to create and share in a 3d enviroment has unlimited possibilities.

So, I do not know what will happen to this online component, but i hope it gets fixed before the next game comes out because if it doesnt then that means they dont really care about our money as much as they care about their money.

Peace
