Hello Fellow Gamers!

I have seen a plethora of post or threads where customers who buy a LIVE enabled PC game find that they cannot connect to LIVE because they are not residing in a LIVE supported country.

Games for Windows - LIVE follows the same process as Xbox LIVE. Below is a list of current LIVE supported countries, please know that while we understand your frustration and desire to connect to LIVE and enjoy all the benefits that LIVE has to offer, its also important to recognize that within this technical forum that we will do all that we can to get your connected to LIVE, but only if you are in a LIVE supported locale.

This post is a way for you to konw that we recognize you, a loyal customer, one who wishes to take advantage of the LIVE service and enjoy all benefits that the LIVE service has to offer!

If you feel that your country should be LIVE supported, then please take advantage of using this landing point to voice your position. Please keep in mind that to have visibility around this request, its important to communicate in a professional manner so that we are not forced to remove post. Hi! I'm from Poland and I really like Games for Windows service. I got only Gears of War from LIVE titles.

I wanted to buy and play other LIVE titles, but since Poland is not supported, guess I'll have to wait.

Please don't let us to wait so long. We want to have all multiplayer features, as well as achievements ;)

Thanks for making this topic! Cheers!

I would like to speak in the name of Hungary, that we missing GFWL! Please enable us this feature, because we can't play GTA IV, we can't buy FO3 DLC and other goodies. ((but we would like a UK market place and we don't mind if the page's language is english))

So please, let us connect and purchase product from GFWL.

It'd be REALLY good to include support of Russia into LIVE services as it is the biggest country in Europe and Asia. Also GTA is extremely popular in Russia as well as Fallout 3 and there are many players who would like to play LIVE here. Some of them use a trick and during a registration insert United States as a country so they are those not many who can play LIVE. Most of the players can't play LIVE only because of such discrimination of Russian playes.

So, Microsoft, PLEASE include support of Russia into LIVE and prove by that that you can do smth good for Russian users excepting the lawsuit against a teacher of the village school.

I've just created a petition. Hope this WILL force Microsoft to expand the LIVE support:

Lol guys don't worry. You don't need to petition this stuff. Microsoft will eventually extend live into more countries, its simply a matter of time. Its not like they haven't realized that Russia and Hungary don't have live. They will resolve the problem soon enough.

Well, I've been waiting for quite a long time (more than half a year) and my patience has come to an end. Since the "extension soon" announcement was posted no extension was made. Looks like Microsoft gets BIG profits from XBOX and GFW so it has become too lazy to satisfy unsatisfied customers.

For example, less lazy companies like EA have already expanded onto Russian market and even allow customers to pay for games using WebMoney - the most comfortable payment system in Russia.

guys don't be fooled by having illusions that M$ will listen to your helpless requests in this thread. I think It was just made to make the job of moderation easier: direct all people from non-supported countries to one thread that nobody will care about.

Major services available in every country or almost all countries:

  • Steam
  • Paypal
  • eBay
  • Google Checkout, Adsense, etc...
  • WORLD OF WARCRAFT, and many MMOs even with the PAID subscribtions
  • etc...

Before the GFW LIVE fiasco, every player in every country with a broadband connection was able to play online multiplayer games. so GFWL is a major recession and restriction of online gaming freedom.

so I just want an offcial response:

WHY exactly isn't LIVE available in most countries with broadband internet just like the above mentioned services ?

we don't need M$ to setup call centers of clueless "tech-support" guys in every country, and websites in every language. Just do like the above mentioned companies !

You all act as if MS owes you something. The bottom line is, setting up live in territories costs alot of money. So if they don't think the service will be profitable in a couple months why would they invest into it? It's not like every russian province, town even has internet.

Every town may not have access to the internet, but the same can be said for a lot of countries. In any case, it's no reason to skip a country altogether. I believe Live will be available in more places over time, but it's just like you said: Which countries will bring in the most money, and which will likely bring in less.

If you have a problem and don't speak English well, send me an email or a message through the Live guide in Dutch, German, French or Danish.
