I checked everything in this post, Fallout 3 is installed on C:, the My Media tab says that the content is installed, I'm signing into LIVE in the game and I started a game while signed into LIVE but I'm still having no joy. The dlc isn't showing up in the data files on the launcher and then even though a little box pops up and says something about checking the downloaded content, it dissappears within a fraction of a second and the downloads tab is still greyed out. I have update 1.7 and that hasn't helped and I've tried restarting my computer, but that hasn't helped either. I can't even find the dlc files to try moving them and I really don't want to try reinstalling the game and then downloading the dlc a second time incase it doesn't even work (plus I'm not sure how many times you can download items, this is the first time I've ever used this thing, normally I just wait for stuff to come out on disc).

Can someone please help me? I've been looking forward to playing this again all month (Had to wait until pay day to afford the points) and don't really want to start playing without the dlc.

Thank you in advance for any help.

If  downloads is still greyed out. Try this from within the game Hit the "HOME" key Select "Sign Out" Once Signed out Select "Sign In" > Select "Sign In With Another Account" > Enter your Windows LIVE id And Password > hit "Done" It will download your profile from the LIVE Service > Once your profile has been signed in hit "HOME" > This will bring you to the Fallout 3 Title Screen > Select Downloads (It should be selectable) > Your downloads should appear if they installed via the Marketplace.

I am glad to hear that. I think I will Edit the guide a bit to make it more user friendly

Thank the maker!

This also works for  'Steam'  installed Fallout3.

You will need to access the game key from your Steam games list and enter that. Then sign into GFWL. This will then make the 'Downloads' menu appear and the DLC's will be there.

And stil i cant play the DLC, i bought 2500 points today to i could get the remaining DLC i needed. just installed Broken Steel and Points lookout and when i start the game, i do NOT see them under downloads, also when i go to DATA in Fallout 3 i do NOT see the files. Think i better wait to download Zeta aswel =(

I should have know there would be probs, the first two DLC i bought in a box, but i thought why wait i can get the rest now, should be easy, buy some points, start downloading; i wanted to play them right now =) ... but gues its not happening today.

How hard can it be ? i downloaded the files perfectly, the "My Media" says its installed, why isnt it working?

Any help would be great

Same problem as Nivek :(

I tried the walkthough as posted in first post in thread, and ive tried the login with different account. I have all the DLC's installed at the "my media".

When i log into the Live ingame i get a "Loading extra content please wait" and nothing happens, if i exit Live ingame im able to use "Downloads" button, but there is nothing installed just a "view available content"  if i push then it gives me the market place and i download everything again. Then it starts over... "loading extra content"

I've come as far as to "New content installed, please restart" and have restarted and even restarted the computer. Still no dice :(

Where are the datafiles put so i can copy them to the datafolder for the game?

EDIT: Here's a solution that worked for me

The DLC can be found [yourname]\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC

copied them to the game folders  c:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Soft\Fallout 3\Data folder

.All the different DLC will have a corresponding number used by Live for identify the downloads,  you need to search the content folders inside the corresponding number for the files. They will contain 3 main files(1 .esm + 2 .bsa), they are self explaining(The Pitt, Zeta etc) once you see them and  has to be copied or moved to your game folder. However  - BROKEN STEEL - DLC has 3 videos extra that will give the game a different storyline than the original version since you will be able to continue after Operation Purity. The videos has to be overwritten in the video folder located inside your games folder so you will get the right information video once they are triggerd by the game. When you have copied the files(or moved them) they will be visible in your datafolder before you start the game and if checked added as a startup parameter, you only have to do this once. Inside the game you will have to wait a few minutes then the DLC's will activate and you will be notified and able to play the new content as its added to the game even if you are online or offline in Live... using saves or however you play it.

Update:

Ok so i found where my DLC was downloaded to:

this is on vista64

C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\DLC

In there there are the maps with your dlc, for example map 425307d6 ( how do they come up with these map names xs )

In there are the esm files etc from the DLC, im just gonna try copy those to the FALLOUT folder in program files, as my other DC (wich i bought in retail) was installed.

il let you know if it worked

@eastmanblues, i did that, i can click DOWNLOADS, but it just doesnt show the DLC

I have the latest version of the game(1.7). But i think i solved the problem by copying the files to the game folders..

Updated my post on how i did it

It works for me - New Quests are added inside the game. Big Smile

Yup, but its weird lol.

So as i first sed, i have put the ism files i found in the fallout data map, but that was only BROKEN STEEL ive put in there.

So i started the game, clicked DATA, broken steel was in there, point lookout was not. Checked DOWNLOADS agains aswel, and none where in there.

Then i loaded a gamefile, started playing a bit, and Broken Steel was added succesfully =) So i thought id fixed it, then after 5 min Point Lookout started aswel. even if i dident see it in "Downloads" or in "Data"

So i tested somthing and deleted the broken steel files ive put in the Fallout data folder myself again. loaded the save file again.... and voilla Broken Steel started, Point lookout started withouth any probs =s

they really should have made this better, its kinda weird now, there is nothing that shows ive installed it correcly, DOWNLOADS is empty the fallout data folder doesnt show Point lookout or Broken steel, yet when i play the game, they seem to start now =)

Oh well, its working so i aint complaining

Trollcsika:

Because of messed up partition I really can’t free more space.

Since I'm planning to download the Broken Steel I'd like to have some confirmation that it is crucial to have the game on the main drive (C:). So if anybody knows about this C: drive issue, please help me, and describe how it can be solved.

What do you mean you messed up the partition? How big is your HDD? There are tools to resize partitions.

400 GB, but I left very low space for system part. Would you be so kind to name and recomend some of those tools.
