I've just got my copy of Dawn Of War 2 today, and it won't connect to LIVE, I'm not getting an error code, it's just saying that my internet IP and UPnP is not connected, I don't understand what's going on, I've tried restarting, shutting off my firewall, it's recorded on my firewall as a friendly application.
Does anyone have any suggestions please?
Thanks in advance, Jay.
*BUMP*
Guys, I hate to sound desperate, but I am, look I really need some help, somebody, anybody, I'd like to be taken seriously, it's annoying a game that I can't play online. :(
Do you have the required ports fowarded or are you using UPNP?
Uh, what? I know enough to get by, but I ond't know a huge amount about computers, all I know is that the computer is on the internet, EVERYTHING else works, Steam, Firefox, MSN etc, but for some reason, LIVE won't recognise an internet connection, although you need an internet connection for Steam/Dawn Of War 2, strange.
Guys, please, I could REALLY do with some help.
I've tried everything thing I can think of/know what to do...
My GFW LIVE is updated, Steam is fully updated, DoW2 is patched, i have a gamertag with a Windows LIVE ID, my internet is working fine (as I'm demonstrating here.) and the firewall (Kaspersky Internet Security) has Steam, DoW2 and GFW LIVE on the allowed list, what else can I try?
Or is it just a problem with GFW LIVE in my area/the uk?
If anyone has a suggestion on what to try, could they explain it to me please, rather than just assume I know exactly what you mean?
Welcome to the forums, have you checked the following post? http://forums.gamesforwindows.com/t/785.aspx
It tells you some of the common issues for why you cannot connect.
It's not giving me an error code, otherwise I would have put that up, it's simply not connecting at all, if I atempt to connect via Dawn Of War 2, it tries to download my account, and then tells me that there's not internet connection, if I try the dedicated client, it just tells me that my LIVE ID is incorrect, which it's not.
You have a connection issue that is either your network hardware, or security software is blocking the Live service. That's why I asked....
InGlocksWeTrust: Do you have the required ports fowarded or are you using UPNP?
You will have to disable any antivirus/firewall/ antispyware program. Then you will need to port foward or use UPNP to open the ports on your internet gateway device. This post can help you. http://forums.gamesforwindows.com/p/5460/
Ok, I understand that I need certain ports to be open, but HOW do I open them? I've never had to do anything like this before. :(
What is the manufacturer name & model of all your network hardware? (example Motorola SB5101, Dlink DGL4500) There is a sticker at the bottom of each device, that will have this information, if it is not on the outside of the device.
Also what is the name & type of ISP are you using?
The modem is a Motorola SB5101E and I have Virgin Media Broadband, but if that's not the type, I can't help eny further, it's not my computer, and my friend doesn't know anything more than that.
The PC directly plugs into Motorola SB5101E?
Yes, there is no router.
You will need to run you event viewer to find out the actual error Start > Run > type EVENTVWR > press OK Look under Windows Logs + Applications Look for xlive.dll post the details from that error or warning there may be multiple xlive errors with different error codes. This will be helpful in finding you a solution.
There are no errors for xlive.dll, only warnings, but here's the details nonetheless:
