Proud Azrael: Yes, there is no router.
Yes, there is no router.
So what do you use for a firewall? If you do not I would test your connection http://www.microsoft.com/windows/using/tools/igd/default.mspx
Kaspersky Internet Security.
Try creating a new NT account with Admin Rights then try log in to your game from there.
I know it sounds crazy but it might work.

Page 145. You need to create a advanced rule in order to get Live to connect. If you paid for this software, you can call customer support for the Kaspersky Internet Security. But alot of times security suites are very complicated & may not work. You can try disabling it, but it sometimes doesn't work.
NT account?
Like I said before, explain things, please.
I've tried running it without Kaspersky running, it doesn't make a difference. :(
Like I said earlier you may have to totally unistall it as a last resort. But have you tried the test I posted before? http://www.microsoft.com/windows/using/tools/igd/default.mspx
Also you will need to create firewall rules to allow GFWL to connect.
I've already made exceptions for GFW LIVE, which is why I'm very ****ing confused. :(
And that site says the UPnP Support Test isn't supported, but it says it's only applicable to routers, so that doesn't affect me, right?

Correct.
Like I said before, alot of times Internet suites do not like GFWL. Often times you will have to totally uninstall the application in order to log in. I would call up Kasper... customer service or uninstall the application.
Like I said before, it's not my computer, and my friend won't allow me to uninstall it, so I guess I'm stuck, thanks anyway. :(
Let you friend know that using a router is a better solution then using a security suite.
Ok, but I can't see that happening anytime soon.
Keeping in mind that I live in the UK, and that money is tight, what Routers can you recommend please?

If your friend is on Virgin Media if you upgrade to the Broadband L or XL they will give you a free Wi-Fi router. Check out this URL for details

I think the router is pretty good. I'm on Virgin too and got a router free which isn't as good so it's definitely worth going for.
Yes, the router may well be free, but that's more money per month, at least with buying one, we don't have to keep on paying more for it.
Thanks for the idea though.
