@musclesmctony:
Yes, UPnP needs to be enabled. Also, can you check if you have the following:
1. XP SP3/Vista SP1
2. .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
3. No background programs like Xfire, Hamachi, Norton etc running.
4. Latest LIVE Client (2.0)
5. All required ports open.
@hunter:
A patch has been released to fix that issue. You can get it here:
http://gearsofwar.xbox.com/Templates/Secondary.aspx?id=1364
yes i have everything except maybe the ports. how would i know and if i dont how do i open them?
I found a different solution to this error code: 0x80072741.It turns out that the error doesn't only aply to problems with the router/firewall.
The error code is also used when windows live can't find the DNS servers of your internet connection.
How to solve:go to network connectionsright click your network connection(right click the one that is hooked to internet)click propertiesselect internet-protocol(TCP/IP) from the list and click properties.now manualy fill in the form.Make sure that you fill in DNS server adress, you can look it up in the admin of your modem/router.
I noticed that even when windows XP shows the right DNS server, windows LIVE sets the DNS to my local ip.BUT when I enter all my connection settings manualy Windows LIVE will use the right DNS server.Maybe this helps for all of you that allready tried everything else.
wait it started working! i turned off my virus software and it worked!
I have this error where i get a "sign in change has occured" or "an error has occured whilst starting the game". Ive been browsing forums for over 10 days now for a solution but nothing works.
I think the issue is that despite UPNP being enabled on my computer the windows live wont register it, atleast it does not register its presence on dow2. How do i fix this problem? Yes it is activated on firewall..
go to Gearsofwar.com and download the patch as this will resolve the "modified executible code" error
READ THIS IF YOU ARE USING VISTA AND HAVING PROBLEMS
Well, none of the above really helped. What I did find was that my network card drivers on vista were out of date (I am running 64 bit), they were old, and released in 07 so right when vista came out. I went to the vendor website, got the new versions, updated them, bingo - all works.
Good luck!
When I first installed Fallout 3 and GTA IV, neither would validate with live.com. After some frustration I decided to disable my firewall, ensure that my internet settings in vista were as described in the troubleshooting guide (ie ensure SSL 2.0 and 3.0 is allowed, change premission to medium, etc). After a few of these changes and some perseverence these games decided to begin validating with live and I could log onto live in-game.
After that, I tended to find that I couldn't log in successfully the first time attempted but was successful afterwards.. I also tended to disconnect after a few hours, but that was easily dealt with.
Now, suddenly I can't log into either of my games. Both of them spit out different error messages, but include numbers mentioned in the first post: 80151911, 800705b4. After following the instructions from this thread, having tried both methods, nothing has changed. Initially I got errors such as 80151908 and 80151906, although I can't track down what they are. I've even set my system as a DMZ, with no firewall active to ensure that port forwarding isn't an issue. I'm not an absolute expert but I'm not clueless either.
The G4WL stand-alone client works perfectly, it only seems to occur if I am inside either Fallout 3 or GTA IV. I am using Vista 32-bit, have a Billion 7402 VGP, and a Realtek 8161B (or something like that). The only possible thing I can come up with is that win update has upgraded my driver and broken something, but everything else works perfectly.
oh by the way, it's actually a realtek
I cannot update neither Fallout 3 nor GTA IV at all! After I logged to live, the game notice me that there are new updates for the game, when I press yes, the update bar appeares then disappears and it says that it cannot to live...and gives me the following error code:
If I refuse to update, then I am signed off.
Suggestions anyone?
I bet if I have also have another GFWL Live, I would encounter the same problem.
Thanx
P.S. I CAN get the patches from the websites, but I think it is better to solve the problem from the core.
P.S.S. For some reason, I could not be able to edit my previous post, so sorry for duplications!!!!
but what if i don't even get an error code? All i get is "service does not exist" under the marketplace. Is there a way for me to actually see an error code as to why I can't download anyhting off of LIVE?
The Navigator 7: but what if i don't even get an error code? All i get is "service does not exist" under the marketplace. Is there a way for me to actually see an error code as to why I can't download anyhting off of LIVE?
Well marketplace is not available in LOTS OF PLACES around the world, only some countries you can use the marketplace UK, USA and France for instance. I live in Slovakia and I can ensure you that neither Slovakia is a supported region by live nor a marketplace for slovakia does exist.
I have had dawn of war two for the past 3 weeks, and it has worked just fine. Now, today when I tried to sign in to windows live with DOW II, I just keep getting Error code: 0x8015909 . What is the problem here?
NM, fixed it using method one. Thnx for the help.
