I've clocked more than eight hours of Fallout 3 and enjoyed every second of it. But today when I wanted to play, it wouldn't register my save file. I signed into LIVE and everything. One thing that did change is I got a 360 and consequently got gold membership. Would that make my Fallout 3 savefiles unusable now? Or is it something else?

do you mean the save file no longer exists?  Have you done anything else recently?  Reinstalled OS, been overly aggressive with a system cleanup, reinstalled game, hit computer with hammer?  Upgrading your account would not (for any reason I can think of) remove your save file from your computer...
